Feedback
Nestled by the waterfront, Bloodroot stands as a beloved fixture with a rich history of over 45 years. This woman-owned vegetarian and vegan restaurant offers a unique dining experience characterized by flavorful, nourishing dishes and a commitment to seasonal ingredients. Despite its quaint, rustic charm and charming atmosphere filled with historical touches, the establishment faces mixed reviews regarding service and inclusivity. While many praise the delightful food, like the highly recommended split pea soup, concerns about customer service and controversial social dynamics have surfaced. Bloodroot remains a special destination for those seeking delectable meals in a thought-provoking setting.
Blood root is amazing in the sense that they are inexorably fearless to be themselves. the women who work there are strong, inspiring, and I absolutely love them for it. I have always heard great things about her and finally found myself trying her when they had an Ethiopian food. highly recommended if they manage to catch them when they offer this. my friend and I have desserted the pineapple on the cake and the chocolate devastation cake. both were great, but pricy and small (about $10 for each piece). they have a pretty sitting area in the free and cats! the cats that strip the restaurant are incredibly sweet. the interior of the restaurant is beautiful, quirky and full of personality.
Got the jerk chick'n, lasagna, and chocolate cake. Overall the food was good but expensive. It is self serve (no wait staff). The inside is very cool, full of historical pictures of women and a book shop is attached. Located on the water, so nice outside seating if you ar okay with the owners cats.
Hidden away, waterfront bookstore and restaurant. The dishes were incredible- namely the mushroom walnut pâté and the Enchiladas. In addition to how incredible the food was, the women working there are absolutely wonderful. I could have stayed and talked for hours swapping recipes.
This restaurant is one of my favorite treats. The proprietresses are amazing and accomplished women who love serving good food and stimulating conversation. Thw book store is unique and enjoyable. Best vegan food in the state.
A wonderful restaurant with scrumptious vegan food and a beautiful view of the water. The patio is a great place to relax with friends or family and a glass of wine. I recommend trying the cheese appetizer. The vegan cheeses are excellent! Another gem isthe Vietnamese summer rolls. Inside the restaurant you can find the owners' cookbooks for sale, as well as some interestingartwork. If you are lucky, the resident kitties will pay you a visit on the patio.
