I dislike writing reviews like this, especially because everyone at this restaurant seemed friendly, but I feel it's necessary to share my experience. I was informed that my order would take about half an hour, which I was fine with. However, that half hour turned into an hour. My son and I drove from Maine to Virginia and were looking for a great place to eat. After reading some reviews about Tante Viv's, we decided to take a detour to check it out. It was definitely worth the trip. The food was outstanding, and the service was equally excellent. The owner was there and was such a pleasant man. The walleye was the best I’ve ever tasted, and the greens had a delightful kick to them. My son absolutely loved the pulled pork with fries. This place is truly a hidden gem!
Eating was excellent. not too expensive for the meal. btw, the fried wings are full of taste. my mother and dancing came with me and they loved it too. in any case it is worth returning. the staff is friendly and very helpful.
We were on the road for a high time and this place was perfect. I worked for 10 years in the food industry and never had better bbq. If they want big food in this area, they certainly stop. they will not be disappointed.
The food is great! family recipes! great prices! the staff is very friendly and go out of the way to make sure they are happy and enjoy eating! I will definitely be back for more amazing eating! had only fried chicken and a pulled pork. amazing eating! the grinder very well dimensioned. the fried chicken was perfectly cooked with great taste! I was surprised by this because I've been to this place numerous times before and never tasted the Mac like this. I couldn't eat it, unenjoyable and wasted money. But other than that the sides and whiting is good. I also enjoy there wings! This is a great and appreciated soul food restaurant that was well needed in this area. There's not a lot of good and non expensive soul food places near by.
