I cried porthcawl for a crack when my daughter porthcawl visited Christmas and had no cracks in years. I found the last few here in the boathouse. beautifully cooked, fresh and fluffy texture, the best risole I have ever eaten. also nice chips, all error-free. of very nice staff who added to all the culinary experience. very recommended for Fab food and great service! thank you. What DebbieW0860 doesn't like about The Boathouse Fish:
The fish 'n chips were disappointing, as they were greasy and bland. It appeared that the frying oil needed to be changed. The young girls working behind the counter were pleasant, but they did not seem to understand that when ordering a small portion of chips, it seemed to be the same size as the regular portion. This wasn’t on the highest ratings in porthcawl. Firstly it’s a great location on the seafront, if you sit in upstairs you can overlook the beach. With a party of people we had a meal upstairs and the servings were incredibly generous. A child portion is plenty though if you have an appetite you won’t be disappointed with what you get. I had a rissole and chips, whereas plenty others and cod chips. The chips were delicious and the veggie curry sauce was incredible. My vegetarian partner was happy with her meal too. Highly recommend.

I used to enjoy dining at The Boathouse, but my recent experience was disappointing. The Curry was bland, the Chips lacked flavor, and the Sausage and Batter were not enjoyable. I have visited this restaurant many times before and always had a good meal, but recently the food just doesn't taste as good as it used to.
We visited this restaurant on a windy day. The young waitress greeted us warmly, gave us menus, and took our order promptly. Our drinks arrived quickly, followed by a generous serving of fish and chips. The chips were perfectly cooked and the fish was excellent. The batter was light and crispy, just the way we like it. We enjoyed watching the stormy seas from the window and felt cozy and satisfied when we left. We will definitely return during the winter and next year.
