When my wife and I arrived in Brides les Bains a few days before I was to begin a 3-week "slimming spa" treatment (with MD prescription), we ate 2 or 3 lunches at this indoor-outdoor restaurant smack in the center of the village, next to the Mercure Hotel and the Spa. It is run by the town's municipal Casino and in France, as often in the USA, this means good food at reasonable prices plus of course excellent wine an... View all feedback.
What Henri Barbe doesn't like about L'Heliantis:
One of the few places in BlB which serves Cheese Fondu for 1 person. I know - I should really get some friends but that's just the way it is. Starter (fish soup) was nice as commented on in other restaurants I believe they all taste the same in town but given that it's nice - that's not a bad thing.Cheese fondu was 50/50: 50% was nice the other 50% a watery mess. In an ideal world the entire pan would have a consiste... View all feedback.
But this is the only reason to come back once. Not received what we ordered. Burger was ok. But take care of the side dishes. In total not really tasty.
Thought we had found a nice restaurant as when you enter it looks very cosy. Unfortunately appearance is the best bit. We ordered fish soup which was so weak and tasteless we couldn't have more than a couple of spoonfuls. The bread provided was very tough and stale. After 20 mins our drinks still hadn't arrived so we fetched a bottle of water from the bar. We'd already had to fetch our own salt and pepper to try to bring life to the soup. At this point we decided that the main course probably wasn't going to bed better so complained and said we weren't happy and were going to leave. We were shooed from the restaurant! We eat out very frequently and this is probably one of our worst experiences. Le Petit Auberge opposite - our alternative venue was superb

In an ideal world the entire pan would have a consistent consistency but that was definitely not the case here. I finished it because I was hungry but not rushing back in a hurry.
Very good menus, very rich and a nice variety of Spanish food for an affordable price.
Pleasant atmosphere, really polite service, tasty food with delicious salads and grilled salmon even though the cheapest we visited.
