Contribute FeedbackThe Rose in Shenfield offers a dining experience that evokes a range of emotions. While the location boasts a friendly atmosphere, and many diners appreciate the attentive service, the restaurant also imposes strict time limits, which can dampen the experience. Guests report mixed feelings about the food, with highlights including well-cooked burgers and enjoyable desserts, contrasted by overpriced and underwhelming dishes. The quaint ambiance is occasionally compromised by proximity to the bustling bar, affecting comfort. Overall, The Rose serves decent pub fare, yet its inconsistent execution of service and food leaves guests longing for improvement.
We took our two young grandchildren for an early dinner and were welcomed fantastically. The children were made to feel special, and the food was of excellent quality and great value for money. The staff were all wonderful. Well done!
The customer service at this restaurant was excellent. It seemed like the manager was the one serving us, and he was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. My chicken dish was delicious, and the spicy beef starter had a great kick to it. The staff's knowledge of the menu was impressive. Unfortunately, there was a disruptive customer causing a scene, but that was not the restaurant's fault. She just needed to lower her volume a bit.
Just passing through and we stopped for lunch. We both had a baguette, which came with salad. They were very nice and the staff were very welcoming. A good price too.
Disappointing, is there a new owner here? We used dine here on odd occasions and always enjoyed the experience. Last Thursday was sadly not great. Firstly, to walk in and be greeted by people in the bar f'ing b'ing really loudly, surely as a family establishment management should put a stop to this. The waiting staff used to be enthusiastic and on the case, not this time, much confusion over the orders resulting in 3 meals going cold whilst we waited for the fourth. To me it would make sense for one server be allocated to a set number of tables. Food ok but not as good as previous visits with what seemed less choices for more money. In fairness, we were offered free desserts and/coffee, but by then we just wanted out. As mentioned, I would be curious to know there is new management or ownership.
I had an issue with my dinner and Tony kindly sorted out my concerns. I’m very happy to recommend The Rose.
