Contribute FeedbackThe Greyhound restaurant presents a mixed bag of experiences for diners. While many appreciate the friendly and accommodating staff and commend the delicious food, service issues have tainted some visits. Complaints include long wait times, unavailable menu items, and inconsistent food quality, with some plates arriving raw or cold. Additionally, diners have noted uncomfortable temperatures indoors. However, the restaurant is praised for its welcoming atmosphere and lovely setting, especially when dining outdoors. Despite recent setbacks, loyal patrons express hope for improvement and are willing to return in the future, highlighting both its potential and current challenges.
Update: we visited again in 15 november specifically for the gluten-free sausages that are no longer available. very simple eating is now. it gluten-free either (the pork cracks or the lenses dahl.) be very careful because he says allergy menu, it is in order, but the waitress returned to our table at 5 points to say the cook looked the packet and it is not in order all that was bland and inconspicuous including the burger, wobble rings and calamari my gast it seems that they have either changed the supplier or bought in much cheaper, finished food or both. it was such a scandal as I loved this place and now I will not disturb to go back original review the gray dog is out of the way...read more
Have been to this venue on many occasions and the food is always great. However, the service on Sunday was poor. 3 of us asked for the trio roast (turkey, beef pork) to be told the turkey had sold out (at 3:30 on a sunday). We asked for lamb or something else to replace it but were told the whole dish was off of the menu and we weren 't allowed 2 meats or a substitute. So 2 of us ordered beef, I ordered the lamb. The size of the lamb in comparison to the beef was actually funny my 2 friends were laughing at the size of the meat portion specifically (the rest, veg, potatoes etc were fine). When we called the waitress over, she went to get the Manager. The Manager turned up to the table, puffed out her cheeks said I 've been told to come over? She really could not be less interested in this fiasco and had no interest in appeasing the situation. Essentially it is what it is. We ate what we had and carried on. It 's a shame. Atmosphere quality of the food was great. The service was pretty poor. Would have recommeded to people previously I wouldn 't now.
I like this venue but appeared to be understaffed leading to delays in taking and bringing our orders. I have been visiting since 2013 and food is consistently good and value for money. Staff are always welcoming
My worst ever experience. Table of 8: every order had at least one problem. Staff started by telling us what wasn’t available. We placed our order and waited. Over the next couple of hours the waitress returned 4 separate times to ask some of our party to change orders as their previous choice was no longer available. Finally after 2.5 hours the food started to arrive. We chose to leave rather then eat the food served to us which was either raw, cold, or overcooked and mostly a combination of all these things on the same plate. Simply disgusting.
Had lunch on a sunny Saturday afternoon with a couple of friends. The weather was delightful. Could have had a table outside, but the menu is slightly reduced and didn't want to be surrounded by smokers (unsure if they can smoke on the terrace, but didn't want to take a chance).
