Contribute FeedbackI arrived a few minutes early for my reservation booked through OpenTable, only to find that the host and hostess were unaware of the reservation system and were managing all bookings in a paper notebook. Despite it being a busy night, they initially said they couldn't accommodate us and then said they would try, but couldn't give us a clear timeframe for a table. This lack of organization was frustrating, especially as more of my party arrived. Luckily, we were able to dine at another restaurant with a short wait, where they were able to give us a specific seating time and were more knowledgeable about their reservations. This was the first time I had experienced this issue with an OpenTable booking, and it was disappointing that the restaurant staff had not been trained to check for online reservations. It was embarrassing to have to relocate my group to another establishment, and it put a damper on our evening. I'm now hesitant to use OpenTable or return to Sportsman's Grille to avoid a similar situation in the future.
I arrived 10 minutes early with a confirmed reservation for 12 people through OpenTable. To my surprise, the host and hostess were not aware that the restaurant used OpenTable and instead kept reservations in a small notebook. Despite being a busy night, they initially told us they couldn't accommodate us, and then said they would try but couldn't give us a definite timeframe for a table. When the rest of my group arrived, totaling 11 more people, this was unacceptable and incredibly frustrating. Fortunately, we were able to find another restaurant with a 10-minute wait where they could provide us with a more concrete estimate for seating. I have never experienced this issue with an OpenTable reservation before. It was disappointing to have to redirect my group to another restaurant, and it almost ruined what was supposed to be a nice evening. It is unclear where the miscommunication occurred, but it seems that the host staff was not informed to check for online reservations. Moving forward, I am unsure if the issue lies with OpenTable or Sportsman's Grille, but it is something that needs to be addressed to prevent this situation from happening again.
