Today's plan was to visit Alex for our New Year's Day beer. At the entrance, there was a sign saying to wait and be seated. A young woman greeted me warmly. I explained that there would be two, maybe three of us (coming from different parts of the city) and that we were in the mood for mulled wine and beer. She told me to choose a seat I liked (Alex was only half full, downstairs). Two small round tables with four chairs each were set up by the window. I had just sat down when another young woman approached and asked if I was alone. She said it was unacceptable to occupy a table for four. My attempt to explain the facts to her was fruitless! The best decision was to leave. It's a shame, really, but no great loss considering the other options available in the city. Therefore, I can't offer any helpful advice on the food and drinks. Just go and see for yourself, and maybe you'll enjoy it.
