While staying at the Hofgut Sternen we did the walk up the gorge and back; very beautiful and peaceful. Not sure when previous reviewers visited but when we were there (1st week of September) the old cafe below the cuckoo gift shop had closed and an obviously new building had opened with a craft shop on the ground floor and with a conference centre and self-service restaurant on the lower-ground floor: both looked to... What DennisB802 doesn't like about Ravenna-bar Restaurant:
You will likely go here if visiting Hofgut Sternen, the hotel, glass blowing shop, gift shop, and restaurant in this black forest stopping place. It is a very touristy location but worth a quick stop. There are a few historical building at this site. The restaurant offer some basic coffee, etc. They are most known for the black forest cake- just be prepared that it has a very strong liquor taste. View all feedback.

This past year, I was able to visit Christmas markets in Germany, Switzerland, and France. All were wonderful; however this one at Ravenna Gorge was simply magical. It was by far the smallest of the lot, but it was located at the foot of a tall elevated train bridge. I understand that the vendors here are all locals form the Breitnau area. My wife and I found this place to be the perfect size for an enchanting evening. We were luck as the snow started to fall making it even more special. This is one Christmas market that I will return to next year.

We cannot comment on the food in the new cafe as we were eating in the hotel!
After visiting hundreds of market stands throughout dozens and dozens of cities, this was my favorite. If you want handmade items, wooden, woolen, and such, then this is your place! No mass produced junk one can find anywhere. A true gem in the gorge!! The sights, ambiance... gluwein are fab! A must visit locale!
We got recommendations on the waterfalls but when we saw them we were disappointed since there was nothing special there. Tons of other waterfalls that are much bigger and more impressive.
