Ahorn Gourmet Restaurant - Braunwald

Probably the best dining experience in Canton Glarus in a traffic-free environment of magical Braunwald. Ideal place for a family or friends get together to unwind and enjoy Swiss culinary delights and breathtaking views of the valley and the mountains. Two horse open sleigh anyone?

I had ordered the evening's special (fish) and was served a different fish altogether, because, as the chef stated as he set the plate in front of me, the original fish did not look as he would have expected it to so he changed it. The subsitute was delicious and prepared to perfection. He even came by shortly thereafter to ensure my satisfaction! Where else does one get that kind of service, attention to detail and care? You have to go far! The menu is eclectic and differs according to the season.

Beatiful location but like i said mediocre service and food.Slightly overpriced for what you get.Average excperience nothing more.

We spent an amazing evening in the Ahorn restaurant! It is a really nice mix - in both ambience and menu - of a typical mountain restaurant with a 5 star hotel one. It is somehow relaxed and casual and refined at the same time. The starters and the main dishes were excellent. We were less impressed by the desserts (they were good though) but that's probably because by that time we were full to bursting due to the generous size of portions. The prices are a little bit higher than in most mountain restaurants, but they are adequate for this quality and portion size. The service was irreproachable and made us feel very welcome. We found the interior design of the restaurant very pleasant too: simple, elegant and cosy. Ah and of course, the view is splendid!
