Tafelspitz & Co - Braunau am Inn

Restaurant with many vegetarian and vegan options. very delicious food and friendly service

Tafelspitz is at the first floor in an historic house in the city centre. We arrived to a warm welcome and had a table at the window. The menu contained many traditional dishes, with some choices rarely seen in restaurants. We were impressed by the choice as the restaurant as the restaurant offers organic meat and a good selection of vegan dishes. I can highly recommend the place for larger groups with diverse dietary needs!

We sat outside at this restaurant along the busy shopping street. Our waitress was friendly but pretty nervous and it took a while to be served. The bread was quite fresh and tasted very good, but as we found out afterward, we were charged additionally for it. I believe this is common practice in many Austrian restaurants. I ordered a salad plate with fried veggie patties but was served a salad with fried turkey. This was actually OK as the food was fresh and tasty (and I am not vegetarian), so I didn’t mention the mistake. My partner had a noodle dish with ham and cream sauce which was only average, and not worth ordering again. This restaurant is fine for a light meal, but we wouldn’t necessarily return if we were in the area again.

Aufgrund der Tripadvisor Bewertungen haben wir das "Tafelspitz" im Rahmen eines Tagesausfluges ausgesucht und waren bereits bei der telefonischen Tischreservierung ob der Freundlichkeit angenehm überrascht. Die Lage des Schanigartens direkt am Hauptplatz ermöglicht eine Teilnahme am Braunauer Geschehen und die servierende Frau Renate scheint nahezu jeden persönlich zu kennen. Das Essen war hervorragend und speziell das Salatbüffet mit einigen Exoten (Fenchel, gefüllter Schafskäse) garniert. Alles in Allem eine sehr zu empfehlende Station in Braunau!

Das zweiteilige Lokal mit der "Nudelkuchl" für schnelle Gerichte und dem "Tafelspitz" für Gourmets bietet einiges an Überraschungen: Vorzügliche Ware -vom Fleisch bis zu Beilagen- kreativ oder auch klassisch zubereitet. Auch die Weinkultur ist passabel. Ein guter Platz für einen netten Abend - auch auf der Terrasse.
