On the previous visit to Kings I did not rate this location as a desirable restaurant for Chinese buffet. Family invited us to join them during the Christmas holidays. This visit I found the buffet food quality to be improved. The only problem I encountered was a lack of empty plates due to high volume of diners. We will return in the future. View all feedback.
What Pauline Lapainis doesn't like about Kings Buffet:
Went there for my son's birthday and was disappointed in the cost. It has a great selection and a more modern feel with furniture however for the price, I would prefer to drive to hamilton to the Mandarin. View all feedback.
We have been taking our neighbour to King's for supper seeing that he just lost his drivers' license. I waited until the second evening before making any comments regarding this establishment. Because he goes to King's on a regular basis, he has become well known with the management and staff. I wanted to find out if the same service would continue with us being there. We were seated promptly upon entering and offered drinks while we were seated. Our server (Julie) took extremely good care of our every need during the evening. Julie was extremely busy with the many customers that she was waiting on. It is hoped that the management supports her financially as without this server I would be hard pressed if the restaurant would be as full with happy customers. The food that was served was very good especially the snow crab legs. We did not leave King's with an empty stomach. Thanks to Jim G. Chen for his conversation during the evening. We plan on returning soon.
Was at Kings today for lunch. The sushi is excellent. Wish they had more Dim Sum selections. The hot and sour soup is light and delicious. Great food value!
It was my first time eating at this place. Reception was friendly. They have quite a sizable dining area and they have more of variety of dishes than the smaller restaurant where we usually go if we wanted to eat Chinese but didn't want to spend too much money. The wait staff were always going around to take away dirty dishes or to ask what else we needed. So, that's a plus.I would have preferred if they included more sushi choices, and added sashimi to the selection. They had seafood and I took several pieces of the crab legs. It was so-so ... tasted like it had been sitting in water for quite a while and was bland. The meat on the carving table looked like it had been sitting there for several hours, as it seemed dry. The siomai meat looked weird and texture was off. I think they used some other meat instead of pork.Overall, food was okay but when I got the bill for $24.99 plus taxes, I was a bit stunned. A pricey dinner and I don't think I will go back anytime soon. I've got to be be dying to eat Asian food and starving if I were to go again :-)
I have been to this location many times. However on April 17, 2017 I had the worst experience ever.My daughter chose King's Buffet for her birthday supper while she was home visiting. We had NO idea it was under new ownership. We were very surprised they charged us $23.95 per person as a holiday price. The only place that considers this as a holiday is a government. Every other place was open.clearly just a way to try to get extra money from customers. We arrived just before 7:30 pm, the place was open until 9:30Immediately I realized something was different by the way the wonton soup tasted. It was very off....Then my daughters hot and four coup looked very weird. When I went for main meal, I realized that all the dishes looked dried out and like they'd been sitting a long time. There were no shrimp dishes. The crab legs were in a pan with no water and cold. The sushi, what was there, looked very questionable. The waiter went to try to get me new crab legs, he was back within minutes, they tasted uncooked, however I appreciated his attempt to please a customer. The bill was over $84 for three people.I had to come home and make us something to eat.I will never return to this place. When we left at 8:20, they locked the doors behind us.What a horrible birthday dinner for my daughter.
Honestly not impressed with the food or the service. Our waiter was inattentive at best. Plates continued to pile up at our table of 10 ppl and it was very frustrating. We had to ration our drinks because you could never be sure you would be offered more, even water! We constantly had to wait for food at the buffet to be replenished. Sushi was constantly empty and had to wait in line for it to be made. Its ridiculous to let one person take every piece of sushi and not make enough for a line up of ppl waiting. This happened several times. We waited 10 minutes each time for someone to serve us dessert. No one at the counter to help and we couldn't even track anyone down, had to continually ring the bell until somebody came to serve us. If you asked for two of something you were only given one, meaning you had to wait in line again to get what you wanted the first time. Trying to flag down our waiter to get the proper tools to crack open crab legs was extremely frustrating too. We asked our waiter several times before giving up and going and searching for another staff member to ask. When we actually got food it all tasted the same! I don't know how you can have such a large variety of food that all has the same flavour. I can't wait for Brantford to get a decent Chinese buffet because so far none of them are good. This was a reservation and staff were told it was a birthday celebration yet nothing was done for birthday protocol. Not even a mention of "happy birthday". That was a big disappointment. My family will not return.
