What User doesn't like about Hawk and Bell:
There were only 3 people in the place (and 2 of them smelled like a herbal substance if you know what I mean) We ordered a small Margarita Pizza, Chicken and Kafta Platter and a side of Fries. 32 minutes later we get our food.....except the fries, so we ask where the fries were....not done yet (32 min to make fries?) so we cancelled that order. During the 32 min, our waitress moped the floor, went out side the front... View all feedback.
Great food prepared by the owner to order, fabulous daily specials and good service. Hidden a bit from street so often overlooked but in the middle of Harmony Square so perfect for taking in the activities in the square.
This pub/eatery is located in downtown Brantford in Harmony Square. It has gone through a number of owners and changes over the past couple of years. The new owner is a chef who has owned and operated a number of establishments in Toronto. The atmosphere is typical pub style with a nice long bar and a number of booths and tables. It also has a single pool table and and dart board and while they are used the noise levels of the patrons remains low not disturbing for other customers. There are a number of craft beers on tap and the usual selection of bottles. There is usually a drink special everyday as well as a food selection. We went on a Monday night and had the $7 burger special. Without a doubt, this was one of the best burgers I have ever had. The pattys are hand made at the time of order and are nice and thick. The French fries are nothing special and may even come out of a bag. But the burger certainly makes up for it.The service is a little slow and that is mostly because only one person is there to work the entire facility including the patio. The waitress we had that night seemed to have a bit of an attitude, but that did not reflect on the service we received. Our total bill for the 2 burgers and 3 pints came to $29. Much cheaper and far superior to their competitor across the street. This year the restaurant has added a small outside patio. It overlooks the square. Nice spot to sit and enjoy a brew while watching the children play on the splash pad. Some evenings there are actually performers, some scheduled and some impromptu playing music.Overall I would rate this a very pleasurable and worthwhile evening out. Well worth the trek into downtown Brantford.
Had a fine meal with good service at a reasonable price, I would recommend this place to everyone. I will be going back soon
We visit this pub every year during an annual event in Brantford. The food is excellent and prepared by a chef! Great prices and very cold draft beer! The chef visits the table to see if you like the food. Friendly wait staff too. Patio available but we have always say inside. Highly recommend! See you next year.
We ended up here by chance as the restaurant we wanted to eat at was packed due to St Patrick's day crowds. It looked mildly dingy from outside but there were patrons inside and we figured if the food was good, who cares? We ordered pizza and chicken wings, nothing fancy, and waited and waited. The food may have started out good but by the time it got to our table it was cold. Our server had disappeared after taking our order and another person brought the food. We sent back the chicken wings but ate the pizza. We should have sent both back. The pizza was also cold and soggy. When it was time to leave our server was still missing so another server found her and sent her to us with the bill. We voiced our displeasure but was offered nothing in compensation. We also talked to the chef/manager? on the way out and he couldn't have cared less.
