Excellent location for spicy food lovers, food is cheerful and lush. They use the right ingredients with a great setting. Felt Thaali is an absolute value for money with so many articles. Each dish is delicious and served hot. Rasam best. What a treat during... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Madras Restaurant:
Extremely tasteless and badly prepared food. Certainly no where close to the South Indian taste or appearance. Payment in advance while ordering is like an insult to injury. View all feedback.
I have tried a couple of their dosa variations, paneer tikka masala and masala dosa. Both come with samber and 3 different chutneys.Dosas are pretty decent, close to home and no reservation required.Spice level is above medium so for those who can't take spice, better tell them to make dosas mild.I also tried the mango shake, this is a BIG NO NO for me, it feels like they took a can of mango pulp and poured it directly into the cup and served it.Most disappointed I have ever been with a mango shake Milk Lassi is pretty good, consistency and flavour is not too aggressive and I actually enjoyed it.Gulab Jamun's are delicious, they are small in size but they are warm, sugary and just right. By far the best item on the menu. The restaurant ambiance itself is just ok, south Indian feel, kind of dingy and there are fruit flies in the entire restaurant and so I had to eat quick and run. We told the waitress about the fly issue and she looked super uncomfortable and nothing she could do to help.If you are looking for a nice clean date night sort of place with good customer service, this is not the place to go.However, if you are in the area and want to grab a quick bite to eat then sure, but I don't think I will want to go back anytime soon.I just think to myself, if the tables are not clean and there are flies everywhere I wonder what the kitchen situation looks like...It is disappointing because they have an excellent paneer tikka masala dosa

We have been going to almost all dosa restaurants (who sustained in business for at least for 4-5 years) including this one.Pros: price reasonable; good location; tasty sambhar; hard working waiters;Cons: service, quality: poor; It was Friday eve around 6-7pm; we were seated by one of the servers when its wasn't very busy. Orders were given for five different dosas and appetizers, drinks within 5 minutes. 3 dosa came after 30 minutes, and mentioned that they ran out of paper-dosa batter and we had to order something different. Okay...its Friday eve and they ran out of paper dosa. Anyways, we changed the order and reminded we are still waiting for dosa #4, and politely mentioned that 3 dosa were quite cold-warm/semi-cooked but we accepted it. Dosa# 4 finally arrived after 45 mins. Dosa # 5 (substituted masala for paper) arrived after 50 minutes but disappointed with some "extra" unordered item (u know what i mean). It wasn't a good experience! We noticed whole bunch of customers were waiting in corridor for over 30-40 mins and we noticed some finally gave up. The place got so full but people were tired of wait. It seemed that the there were not enough cooks in kitchen. We wanted to speak to Manager/Owner but he wasn't around - guess he does not either care or too busy to be at his place during prime time. Hopefully he would notice himself or this is not the daily issue (as this was 2nd time we had the quality issue in rush hour) - or probably should work hard to improve service other wise its an opportunity for good manager / new management. I am sure customers would pay little bit extra for service and quality. I must say servers/waiters were working hard and probably the cook inside too.
Very nice place to eat out for south Indian cuisine !! Quick service...Would definitely go back there !
Last Saturday, we decided to explore this new restaurant despite the slush and ice after the storm. Travelled 30 KM from Mississauga to this place one way and can say we were not disappointed.Dosas and sambhar curry have typical madras flavor, distinct from the way one finds in Bangalore or Hyderabad. Dosas are big so make sure you know what and how much to order! Coconut chutney is real nice and natural flavour. To enjoy it perfectly, ask the chef to make it slightly crispy. Only regret is if they could have more people to serve. It is only one person serving much visited place so by the time your turn comes to enjoy food, it is cold. What I liked about this place is not being asked or prompted for the tip. When I handed over my credite card for the payment, it was the amount charged as much on the cheque. While I paid the much deserved tip for the taste, I must say to be pleasantly surprised.Alas, this place could have been near my house.Cheers
