Overall, Anjappar is a solid choice for authentic South Indian cuisine in the Mississauga area.
I really like this place and have enjoyed most of what I've tried. I particularly enjoy the gobi manchurian dry.
This is a typical restaurant in simple South Indian style, and not a gourmet palace, therefore visit with appropriate expectations! There is a well priced buffet, but a la carte options are good as well. Would suggest stick to the tried and tested things: the dosas are excellent, including the rather novel kara dosa that I tried, all with plenty of extra helpings of coconut chutney and sambar. All reasonably priced- I would be certainly be happy to visit again. Overall the place is clean, service is reasonably prompt. A good place for those who enjoy South Indian fare and for the gastro-adventurous Canadian as well.
I went there with my family friend for father day lunch. I order different variety of food belongs to different region south India. Malabar chicken curry was little disappoint, with not much taste of coconut and there is green chilli, so hot. Most of food are on very very hot, too much chilli. Chettinad is very special aromatic spice not extra hot chilli. We didn't enjoy much of lunch and there is no air condition inside, don't know its broken or they didn't put it on. Advice to reader to ask your chilli level when u order.
Stopped in here for takeaway on the recommendation of a friend. Buffet was about $11 plus tax and was moderate to small in size compared to other places I've been. However, I chose the coconut mutton for takeaway. When I got home to eat it, I found it rather small for the almost $15 I paid (with no rice or naan). The food was good, but the portion too small. It was probably around 1lb (454g) and was about half the size of comparable meals I've purchased at other places. I might give it a shot for the buffet as there were a lot of guests midafternoon enjoying the food. But I wouldn't recommend this dish.
Good South Indian Restaurant in Mississauga, Specialized in Tamilnadu Karaikudi cuisine. Have good choice of Dosa, Parotta, Curry. Very good choice of spices can be seen in all the dishes.
