Smith Jones - Braintree

From here ordered today, we thought we would go there based on current reviews (obvily previous reviews work! cod was absolutely excellent and great was more than enough for one, battery was beautiful and crispy. the chips were nice, not too soggy, portion size was enough to feed a family on a middle part, so worth for money is definitiw a factor here! my partner ordered a chickenburger and a part of the wing, both looked good and their judgement was exactly that. big eating, reasonable prices, in any case order again. highly recommended.

My wife wasn't a fan of fish and chips in general. That was until we tried Smith and jones. The quality and flavour is excellent. The attention of the staff is great. Highly recommended. Prepare yourself to queue on Friday's.

Was pleasantly surprised by the food,could fault the fish was lovely and fresh with nice batter and chips were good, curry sauce could of been a bit thicker but was still tasty

This popular and cherished fish and chip shop has been a staple in Braintree for years, and it doesn't quite live up to the stories surrounding it. Nevertheless, people continue to choose to come here, myself included! The prices are quite affordable, and the fish and other offerings are cooked fresh. During the day and early evening, you can often find great deals.

I can't fault the quality of the food they serve. The service is friendly and attentive. As of April 23rd, everything remains excellent, though it's worth noting that, like many takeaways, their prices have gone up. As of June 25th, there have been no further changes. One thing to mention is that they only accept cash, which is quite uncommon these days.
