Mick's Fish Chips - Braintree
Mick's Fish Chips
Description
At Micks, the fish and chips stand out as a culinary highlight, praised for their freshness, crispiness, and superior quality. Patrons rave about the portion sizes, often enough to satisfy multiple diners. However, consistent service issues mar the experience, with reports of slow and disorganized staff leading to extended waits and order mix-ups. While many enjoy the delightful food and welcome atmosphere, the unsettling pattern of inadequate customer service leaves a lingering disappointment for some. Overall, Micks presents a mixed dining experience where high-quality food meets underwhelming service, prompting diners to weigh their options carefully before returning.

Great service, unbelievable haddock fish with the thick perfect light crispy bubble batter. Chips are on point! HOT also! Cooked fresh! Tried all chip shops locally and this beats all hands down.
Potato quality or type doesn’t appear right for deep frying. These chips are very greasy, so much so, they feel slimy. They are also dense/hard/gritty on the inside, and taste like a salad potato or a cheap half cooked potato. Not very nice They also leave the most bizarre numbing feeling in your mouth after eating them. It’s really odd
Honestly, this is the first time we have been let down by a meal at this restaurant. Although a chippy may offer a variety of items, the quality of the chips should always be top-notch, which unfortunately was not the case this time. It's puzzling how they could have missed the mark on something so basic. As a result, I will likely be visiting the next nearest chippy from now on. Apologies.
