In visiting Risotrante Aqueda twelve of us took a large circular table choosing multiple menu options. We began with bread and good oil for the table.Rist. Aqueda in Braga. Our appetizers were of outstanding quality, small codfish fritters on toothpicks and most [particularly, tremendous large cold mussels on half shell with oil vinegar and cut fresh marinade of colorful peppers: Wow- For my main,I had grilled goat (cabrera) on bone sections -interesting and generally tasty-a once in a decade experience and finished with a simple wrapped small tasty ice cream from the freezer. I forgot to copy what others ate and precise prices, but didn’t seem costly from the menu on recall and there was much satisfaction from eleven of our twelve. The one modestly disappointed response from our family members came with the comment that his entree was more about not choosing wisely enough according to his tastes than the actual dish quality. A solid dining experience overall with good (as in value) local wine to boot!
We were staying at the Elevador in Bom Jesus for eight nights and had been expecting to eat there on, at least, the first night. Unfortunately, the hotel was fully booked and we were advised that there were some restaurants just outside the park. Hungry, we went walking and the Agueda came to our rescue. It is a traditional Portuguese restaurant, with tables laid in rows to make best use of the space. We started with soup and, for the mains, I had octopus, whilst my wife had cod (their specialty), which she was unable to finish. Strangely, though, she managed to find room for an ice cream! We washed all this down with the house red. We returned on our last evening and, following soup (again), we shared an enormous cod meal which neither of us could finish. This time we pushed the boat out a bit more and had a more expensive wine. Overall, we found it excellent value, much cheaper than the hotel restaurant, with the combined bill for the two evenings coming to around €70. Just one word of warning though. The chef does seem to like to use a lot of oil in his cooking, so if this might be a problem, it's probably not the restaurant for you. Otherwise, if you're staying at any of the hotels in the park, it's well worth walking up the hill and trying this very authentic Portuguese restaurant.
Typical food from Minho, tasty and at the same time not greasy/ heavy. Straight forward service and fair prices.
Fast service, large portions. Reasonable prices. Tasty. ...If the waitress were more polite, I would give 5 stars
Parked in their lot to look for somewhere to eat. We were informed that we can only park there if we were patrons. Menu looked good, so we ate there and we were all so glad we parked in that lot! Two weeks all over Portugal and this was the most memorable meal we had. Large portions with good prices, friendly staff, and honestly the best octopus I've had anywhere. Perfectly cooked. I will most certainly return here if I'm ever in this area.
