On December 10, 2021, at 8:25 PM, I visited this restaurant with my family, only to be met with a disappointing experience. A staff member abruptly closed the restaurant door without any explanation. Unbelievable food. The chicken, oh, the chicken, wow!!! Noone has better chicken.. Everything else on the menu is just as good. Phillip, the owner has a personality that can?t be beat; he makes you like you?re part of the family. Nicki, his mother, also works there; what a sweetheart. A hidden gem. We went two nights in a row and we?ll be back regularly.

Two piece, all white chicken with salad and mashed potatoes. It comes with a warm pita bread with honey butter. My husband gets the chicken and rib dinner which is his favorite. We got a lot of take out during COVID because this is a local family restaurant that we wanted to support and make sure that we could dine there for a long time.
We have been to many of the Basil's locations over the past 20 years and really love their food. However, after our last visit just this morning, I can't say we will be visiting the 64 location again. We typically dine later in the evening, but this morning we were there right when they opened at 11AM. I COULD NOT find a clean place to sit and eat! The tables are usually dirty when we dine in the evenings and I always think they were just busy and hadn't had time to clean. Well, today you would think first thing they would be clean because of their nighttime closing and cleaning routine. Apparently they don't have one because the soda area and machines were sticky too! It appears they never mop their floors either! My shoes were so sticky I had to scrape them off outside before I got in my car and you can see the stickiness carrying outside onto the concrete. This got us thinking that if the dining area is this dirty, how clean can the kitchen possibly be? This place needs to be closed for a deep cleaning! Sorry Basil's, but it needs to be said!!!
My Sweet Wife Julie's favorite chicken. We spent our first dozen years together in Bradenton and ate at Basil's frequently. Hope to come back someday to remember her with some great chicken.
Chicken and ribs combo is the way to go. Mashed potatoes with a good yellow gravy and Mac and cheese for the 2 sides. Come with a flat pita bread and sweet butter. Always perfect
