Basil's Chicken Ribs - Bradenton

On December 10, 2021, at 8:25 PM, I visited this restaurant with my family, only to be met with a disappointing experience. A staff member abruptly closed the restaurant door without any explanation. Despite my attempts to knock for attention, no one bothered to acknowledge us. We felt humiliated in front of other patrons, and this was one of the most insulting experiences I've ever encountered. According to their website and the sign outside, the restaurant was supposed to close at 9 PM. The staff was rude and unfriendly, showing a complete lack of concern for customers. Overall, it felt like we were being treated like beggars. It was a terrible experience.

I have been eating at this location for at least 4 years now. Philip, the owner, has been there every time I?ve been in. He greets everyone personally and is the kind of operator that remembers his patrons names. The restaurant is always clean including the tables and bathrooms. I always get the same thing! Two piece, all white chicken with salad and mashed potatoes. It comes with a warm pita bread with honey butter. My husband gets the chicken and rib dinner which is his favorite. We got a lot of take out during COVID because this is a local family restaurant that we wanted to support and make sure that we could dine there for a long time.

I work at the smoke shop in the same plaza as Basil's, and I truly enjoy their food! The customer service from Phil, Samir, and the rest of the staff is fantastic too! I often choose to have lunch there whenever I’m working nearby, and I’m looking forward to dining there again today. Thank you all for the wonderful food and excellent service!

We have been to many of the Basil's locations over the past 20 years and really love their food. However, after our last visit just this morning, I can't say we will be visiting the 64 location again. We typically dine later in the evening, but this morning we were there right when they opened at 11AM. I COULD NOT find a clean place to sit and eat! The tables are usually dirty when we dine in the evenings and I always think they were just busy and hadn't had time to clean. Well, today you would think first thing they would be clean because of their nighttime closing and cleaning routine. Apparently they don't have one because the soda area and machines were sticky too! It appears they never mop their floors either! My shoes were so sticky I had to scrape them off outside before I got in my car and you can see the stickiness carrying outside onto the concrete. This got us thinking that if the dining area is this dirty, how clean can the kitchen possibly be? This place needs to be closed for a deep cleaning! Sorry Basil's, but it needs to be said!!!

My Sweet Wife Julie's favorite chicken. We spent our first dozen years together in Bradenton and ate at Basil's frequently. Hope to come back someday to remember her with some great chicken.
