Had a wonderful birthday dinner with my nabenby. Started with Escargot and then the fillet and lobster had tail. Steve had the Mozzarella sticks and then shrimps and linguins, which was so delicious with about 8 large shrimps in a cream sauce. Holly was our Fantastic server and it was a wonderful night. we have made a reservation at sharky’s and received a confirmation email for the reservation and several reminders. when we came to the restaurant, it was left with a banner of intention as if it had been there forever. to make dinge worse, later we got a notification that will make us eat with sharkys. seriously?! Sharkeys is located on Anna Maria Island across the street from the beach. There is no patio or views of the water at this restaurant. But what you give up in the view you get back in the food.. They are not currently taking reservations but on a Friday night from about 4-7 we never saw people having to wait for a table. The previous review noting it having British pub vibes was accurate. We were dressed casually for our dinner and that was pretty much the norm. The food was wonderful. For Starters-The garlic bread was topped with real roasted garlic, the sauce on the muscles was to die for. For entrees the crab stuffed tilapia was delicious. My dining partner ordered the prime rib and is somewhat of a prime rib enthusiast (if that's a thing) and was very impressed. They also do have a kids meal and offered crayons for the kids. The service was good in that our waitress was delightful and clearly a professional and ran her ass off, but she was waiting on the entire restaurant so it was someone slow. The bartender didn't seem to help or care, and probably could have at least brought people their drinks. Overall we had a wonderful dining experience with fantastic food.
Being newer to the Bradenton area, we are still checking out most of the AMI restaurants for the first time. There are so many options! On a Friday evening, we were looking for a place to get dinner on the island with a guest from out of town, one that we hadn't been to before and on the lower end of the price spectrum. We had passed this place several times before, but it's a very hole in the wall joint; still, it seemed to have pretty good reviews and the menu sounded promising, so off we went. Immediately upon walking in, we were struck with the strangest smell that everyone in my group noticed. I won't speculate on the source, but it wasn't something you want to smell as you're eating. The restaurant felt humid and stuffy, my husband was a bit too warm the entire time. Something in the restaurant had his allergies going haywire throughout his meal, from the time we walked in the door. He found signs of water damage in the mens room as well. The place was quiet, with only a couple other diners there at dinner time on a Friday night. But we were already there and decided to stick it out maybe the food would redeem it? The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't quite enough to make me want to give it another shot. The bruschetta starter we shared wasn't great, as the bread was completely soggy. My fish and chips were good, with generously sized fillets of tilapia (seriously, huge! and a nice crunch. My companions felt the same way about their dishes not bad, but not good enough to make up for the overall unfavourable experience. There are too many other options in the area for me to be in a hurry to come back.
Don't let the shark on the outside of the building fool you. The food and services were EXCELLENT! We ordered the tuna sashimi for an appetizer and both had the pecan crusted snapper. The tuna literally melts in your mouth. Our server, Michele was a delight and treated us like family. We will definitely come back on our next trip to Anna Maria.
We at Sharky's on Sunday with two other couples while vacationing in Anna Marie Island. We called first for reservations and they said they would be busy later so we dined around 5 PM to beat the rush. I ordered my signature Filet and lobster tail with au gratin potato and mix vegetables. My filet had a dark gravy on it which tasted very good, the gravy was unusual but it was very flavorful. The au gratin potatoes were one of the best I have ever had and the mixed vegetables were cooked just right. My wife ordered the fried shrimp, au gratin potatoes and mixed vegetables. She really enjoyed every item on her plate. The service was great and we never had ask our server for anything.
