What User doesn't like about Hills BBQ Noodle Shop:
Hills BBQ has been in Box Hill for a long long time and for some reason it remains a popular choice with the locals. I remain mystified as to why. When Ive been here the food quality has been very poor, the place filthy dirt on floors, table covered in old sauce and food smears and the staff not particularly friendly. I will not be returning given the many other options available in the area View all feedback.
This is my second time to have dinner there and i couldn't believe the bbq pork and roasted pork are so badly taste and i feel very sick to have them. service is terribly bad, i couldn't make belief when i stand and ready to go for washroom the staff couldn't wait to set the table and chair immediately while i am still standing there there's many vacant tables in the restaurant .well, we then plan to go washroom before pay and exit the restaurant , in the washroom, we heard a waiter shouted loudly is the ladies exit from the back door , they haven't pay yet, well the cost is just i will definately not going back anymore. one more thing, when they serve complimentary tea, it splash on the table but they didn't clean it , i will say this is low quality food , low quality staff and service no manner and very unhygiene place to be honest. All in all , i will not go back anymore, as i didn't expect to buy an unpleasant experience.never ever. No, I do not recommend this business
For a dingy looking Chinese restaurant, the food is relatively average yet the staff there are amazingly shifty and rude. Was there last week for a takeaway, the male staff at the cashier pulled that old baitandswitch tactic with their prices. They had all these paper menus at the counter, which we relied on. Then, when it was time to pay up, the guy at the till then claimed the prices on the paper menu were old and then, he showed us the new and much dearer prices on a laminated sheet of paper, which he conveniently pulled from behind the counter, wellhidden from customers' view. There was no room for negotiation regarding this sudden price hike and the waiter that handed my food was plain snarky when I verified my order with him. Following this review, I will be lodging a complaint to Consumer Affairs Victoria

We visited Hills BBQ on a Friday evening for dinner. The restaurant was not too crowded, with plenty of available tables. Upon entering, I noticed that the floor seemed greasy and in need of a good cleaning, and the interior décor appeared a bit outdated. As soon as we sat down, the waitress offered us the option to order lobster. We decided to try the lobster fried with noodles, spring onion, and garlic. The staff brought out a live lobster for us to inspect before cooking it. The lobster meat was deliciously sweet, meaty, and tender, and the noodles were coated in a flavorful ginger sauce. While the dish was enjoyable, I personally would have liked a more intense ginger and garlic flavor. We also ordered garlic-fried dou miao, which was cooked to perfection and remained crunchy. Additionally, we ordered fried rice that had a wonderful wok hei taste, making it exceptionally tasty. The service was excellent, with the waiter regularly changing out our plates to accommodate the lobster shells. We plan on returning to sample more of their offerings in the future.
I was pleasantly surprised to find that Hill's BBQ offered a whole roasted pig on their menu. The dish was expertly prepared, with the skin reminiscent of pork crackling rather than the usual thin, crispy skin. But I definitely wasn't complaining! The addictively crispy and delicious skin paired perfectly with the moist and tender meat. The hoi sin sauce complemented the dish perfectly. Although it was a bit pricey, the dish was truly satisfying.
