Makimono Sushi Bar & Restaurant- Clarington

Great food and service. Chinese, Japanese and Thai. We have been going to Makimono Bowmanville since they opened. Everything is always so fresh. I love that they cook to order. We never feel rushed or neglected. Just right!

I was here and had called out several times and it's always great! this is my way to sushi place for a few years and I have only seen all the bad reviews and that is why I left a good one because I never had. a bad experience here the foods always really good service was great and it is the same price as any other sushi place.

Feb 2021- in any case do not recommend this location! they save themselves the disappointment and instead try the Oshawa site. a friend and I visited this place today and let the police call us when we mentioned a concern with our bill. without explaining or hearing, they went away and called the police and lied to the officer who said we wanted to flee the restaurant. not once we even left our seat, we were under the impression that they will be back with the final decision of the manager and we are instead greeted by the police on our table. complicated and humiliated. please do not give this place their time and money. 0 star

I ordered takeout and went few minutes after the pickup time. The manager (a woman in formal clothing) was at the cashier and I paid. She doesn't say anything whether the order is ready or when it will be ready. Someone else came to pickup...food, so I stepped to the side. I waited and waited patiently. Around 4 minutes passed, the manager wasn't doing much in that time. And she clearly saw me waiting but didn't say anything and just ignored me. Then she passed me and went elsewhere. Another waiter came and asked what I ordered and picked up a bag that was just sitting there on the COUNTER behind cashier this WHOLE TIME and handed it to me. Come on, the manager was so ignorant. How could she miss it? Everytime we go, she doesn't greet, not even a smile. Won't go back. Too bad because the food was decent. I am telling my friends and neighbours to avoid this place unless they want terrible service.

A noon hour treat for the all-you-can-eat deal for our granddaughter was wonderful up until it was time to leave. We thoroughly enjoyed our food and it was a real treat. The service was friendly and good and the restaurant was not busy. I stopped...at the washroom, small but clean, and someone came in after me and went into the stall. Upon leaving I noticed that it was a uniformed food handler from the kitchen who stopped VERY briefly at the sink and made a pretence of running the water. The soap dispenser is noisy, as is the towel dispenser, and there was no sound from either or even time to have used them. There were also no signs reminding staff to thoroughly was hands or guidelines posted for required hand washing from the Department of Health. This may not be typical of the kitchen staff there but it only takes one with bad practices to turn a great experience into a trip to the Emergency Dept. I think that management needs to take steps to ensure that proper health safety requirements are met.
