Was OpenTable Diner at Borage a mag?
Borage is a fantastic little restaurant. It has been very nicely decorated and fitted out and the lady who served us could not have been more welcoming. And the food is brilliant. There is not a huge choice on the menu but the options are all very appealing, freshly prepared and delicious. We were there for lunch and thought it tremendous value. Would definitely recommend. What OpenTable Diner dislikes about Borage:
We booked for 8pm and the service was so slow. Our order eventually got taken at 8:30 and we didn’t get ours mains until 9:45. By this time we were so hungry. The food was nice but the wait was just so long. The waitress said the reason was because there was a large booking (about 10 people) but the rest of the restaurant wasn’t very busy. Unfortunately it spoilt it for us and we are unlikely to return. View all feedback.

We enjoyed an excellent meal in borage 'fine dining' style eating, but in a relaxed environment and very affordable. all the courses were delicious, including chicken tortellini, kartoffel and caviar-volute, and filet steak. the service was very friendly, helpful at the advice on wein and attentive. the environment was unfussy and relaxed in a sense with the 'neighbourhood restaurant' feeling. although the table setting itself was very smart with white tablecloths. we will definitely be back with friends... and even though there are high chairs and baby change facilities, we will make sure that we leave the children at home and treat borage as adults only!
Excellent food. Attentive but not obtrusive service. Fine dining experience at a reasonable cost.
This is a small, family style restaurant that is trying, and succeeding, to put their own stamp on their food and menu.
Great food combined with good, unobtrusive, friendly service. This was our third visit and the standards are consistent.

I had a wonderful meal at this restaurant! The staff was incredibly helpful in accommodating my allergy and provided excellent wine recommendations. I've already recommended this place to my friends.
The food was quite good, but the atmosphere left something to be desired. The decor could definitely use some improvement. I was also disappointed by the limited wine list, which didn't offer many fine wine options. Considering this is Bowman, I expected more choices if I wanted to splurge on a nice bottle, but unfortunately, I didn't have that option.
Borage had been recommended to me by a friend so, while I found the outside of the building to be uninviting I took it on trust. We were seated upstairs, which was warm with enough room between the tables so that you didn't overhear your neighbours conversations. The food was a delight and I loved every morsel We had the chicken liver pate and the potato velout, followed by monkfish and Poussin and cleaned out plates. The staff are lovely and the service is just right. All in all a real find and we will be back. Thank you :
My Wife and I went to celebrate our anniversary, my wife had the Scallops and Duck, I had the Chicken Consume and Fillet Steak. The menu rotates periodically and this particular one is only on for a few weeks in-between Christmas and the New Year. The restaurant is on two floors, we sat upstairs on this occasion, the rooms are a little sparse in décor, but nice enough. The food was outstanding, each dish made up of several elements, for example, the steak I had came with creamed potato, spinach, sweetened fried onions, red wine jous, and a croquette of braised steak within a breadcrumb coating, all of which displayed the chef 's skills and gave the diner a well rounded tasting menu within one dish. The portions were just about right and offered very good value for money, we had no room for desert but they kindly presented us with a complimentary chocolate mouse to share on a 'happy anniversary ' icing piped plate which was a nice touch. This restaurant shows great promise and I will certainly be going back for more, it is head and shoulders above anything else in Altrincham and Hale and offers outstanding value for money in respect of the dishes produced. I wish them every success for the future and have no doubt it will become a very busy restaurant as word of mouth spreads.

Very very good restaurant. The Sunday menu is excellent value and offers choice. The scallops in particular were superb, as were the roast potatoes with the beef roast. Only small comment is i ordered the beef rare and it was distinctly medium, but it was still delicious so I wouldn't downrate them for that.
