Our visit coincided with the Plant 4 Friday night markets, but we were there for dinner after a show at our nearby favourite Holden Street Theatres Kome Kome's blackboard dinner offerings sounded great. Chef Akihiko Kurashima has built a functional ground-floor kitchen|dining space on the western edge of Plant 4 overlooking Bowden Park We ordered Barramundi and Shimeji Saute and a Miso-marinated Pork Loin Chop. Both dished were presented on attractive China plates [in contrast to the take-away containers and platters we saw from other food outlets] My barra dish looked superb - a beautiful fillet with eringi & shimeji saute with Yuzu pepper foam - stunning presentation! The barra skin was perfectly crisp, the flesh delicate, soft and moist, and the contrasting mushrooms teamed well - absolutely delicious! The chop was thick, juicy and not over-cooked, nestled on a veg saute and topped with exquisite asparagus - yum! Drinks were easy and cheap - the upstairs bar had Coopers Pale Ale for $6.5 and local wines by the glass for $8.5 Aki was a great host, bringing us a tofu starter and bottled water while chatting about the evolution of Plant 4 and his coffee, desserts, sushi and other offerings Plant 4 was opened a few months ago and may evolve with the seasons For Kome Kome's details check their FB page for opening times and other info, then go and enjoy great food!
My foodie call when nothing else is going on It would be a fine place to eat with others, but I tend to come here alone.
I frequently visit this restaurant and always appreciate the friendly and efficient service from the owner. He is polite and attentive. The restaurant also opens earlier and more frequently than other coffee shops in plant 4, making it a great spot for an early morning coffee.
I dine at this restaurant regularly, and Aki is a fantastic cook and barista. The coffee is consistently good, and the food never disappoints. The salmon dish is outstanding for breakfast or lunch, as well as the new udon dish. The tiramisu is also delicious, and the sushi is top-notch. Overall, everything on the menu is excellent. The service is always friendly and attentive.
