They made us a fantastic vegetarian dish, roasted vegetables, rice, vegetarian cheese, green salad. Everything just generous and very tasty. We felt very welcome, really nice atmosphere in a beautiful place View all feedback.
What Hugo Fonseca doesn't like about Restaurante Cruzeiro:
Nice space and extremely kind service! Unfortunately our bacalhau tasted slightly bad like it had been way too long desalting without having the water refreshed. We have asked to have rice with the salmon but that was not possible" because the restaurant was too full", whereas our "panado" was served with rice... not really to understand!!All in one not a bad experience but would not return. Nice place with plenty of room and food choices. The food quality in my opinion is average and depending on what you ask some portions seemed a bit small, as for the price range it's medium (not cheap but also not that expensive). Will probably...return a couple more times to see if anything has changed.
The only alternative option if you stay at the pousada. It is a friendly, family run restaurant with hearty meals.
If you want to experience what this part of Portugal likes to eat (the Minho region) this is your restaurant and my husband wanted to try it out. We ordererd the "rojões", which is porc meat prepared in different ways and served with fried potatoes, and the "Arroz de sarrabulho" which is made with different types of meat and blood from the porc and spices. It was a different taste, and even though I eat meat (very little but I am not vegetarian either), for me was a little challenging. There is however the appreciation of the culinary value and love that these plates were prepared and that was undeniable accomplished. They do have other choices, like cod fish but be aware of the portions, they are very big. We also had a soup as an entry that would have been perfect in size for a light supper and it was really good. The wine was their own, and it was also great.
Typical Portuguese restaurant with fair priced local dishes (the usual large portions). Had lunch here with an all local crowd. Great vinho verde from the owner's son's estate. Extremely friendly people. Would recommend.
We visited this restaurant a few times whilst staying at the Pousada down the road.It boasts a nice setting with friendly English speaking waitstaff (our portugese was pretty poor!).The food is great: mains consist of meat/fish dishes with included sides of rice or potatoes plus vegetables. Beware: extreme portion sizes - a full main is enough to feed a couple!Desserts to recommend: chocolate cake, cheesecake.
