Shephards Café, a beloved spot for breakfast and light meals, offers a delightful selection of freshly made sandwiches, pastries, and hearty daily specials. While the food remains appealing, with favorites like cheese and onion quiche and hot meals, the dining experience has faced inconsistencies. Customers have reported a decline in service quality—ranging from inattentive staff to the occasional unclean utensils. Despite these hiccups, the café’s inviting atmosphere, friendly staff, and delectable menu keep patrons returning. For those seeking a cozy alternative to traditional dining, Shephards Café still holds promise, but patrons should manage expectations on service.

What 55racheli dislikes about Shephard:
We come here most weeks on our day off for breakfast and liked it a lot however recently the service in her is so bad…no hello when you walk in. The people who are supposed to be serving are too busy sat in tables slagging other staff off or moaning about who did the till last night because they didn’t plug the card reader in. You used to get table service, that seems to have stopped…not sure if that’s due to people... View all feedback.

We come here most weeks on our day off for breakfast and liked it a lot however recently the service in her is so bad…no hello when you walk in. The people who are supposed to be serving are too busy sat in tables slagging other staff off or moaning about who did the till last night because they didn’t plug the card reader in. You used to get table service, that seems to have stopped…not sure if that’s due to people leaving without paying so can probably understand that however there’s no signs telling you so we sat for ages expecting someone to come and serve us. In the current climate I’m not sure you can afford to give bad service like this. We’ll be looking for somewhere else to have breakfast in future which is a shame.

Been here a number of times. Great value for money, varied menu and plenty of food on the plate. Clean and inviting. Also a takeaway bakery.

We ordered food to be delivered and what came was not to the quality I remember, the sandwiches were a mix of stale bread and soggy edges! The egg custard was watery and tasted of lemon, we ended up not eating it! Save your money go elsewhere!

This cafe has been in Boston for ever, I remember visiting it when I was little. My Mum Sheila North, worked there many years ago. Its situated a few minutes walk from the town, just past the war memorial. Forget Neros and Starbucks head for this charming cafe.
