The service is noticeably less professional and attentive than bef... read more I believe Menton has not fully recovered from the pandemic and the Barbara Lynch controversy. The service is noticeably less professional and attentive than before, with issues regarding timing of dishes, wine pairing presentation, dish descriptions, table check-ins, staff training, and knowledge of food and wine. While some dishes like the bluefin tuna with foie gras and sweetbreads are excellent, others such as the squid ink pasta with king crab and sea urchin, undercooked black cod, and one-dimensional duck breast are only average. The cocktails were hit or miss, with some like the espresso martini and L'Azureen standing out while others like the gimlet were too sour. Despite the high prices for a 6-course tasting menu and wine pairing, there was no in-house sommelier available to discuss the wines. The server did their best, but lacked knowledge about wines and couldn't provide a proper service. The wine pairing was also disappointing, with some wines not matching well with the dishes. However, we did enjoy the sauternes paired with the dessert. Overall, we may not return soon due to the high cost and lackluster experience. It's disappointing as Menton used to be one of our favorite restaurants.
