Fassbender - Bonn

Cafe and more in the middle of the shopping walk. Friendly service, reasonable prices. The surrounding is not the best. Prices are reasonable.

They are very well situated in the center of the Altstadt with a manificent view onto the old marketplace. Seating and interior is very relaxed, the staff was very helpful and professional. Their cappuccino with cream was delightful as well as the choice of cakes (to view on the ground floor).

They were exasperated with us for wanting to visit a half hour before closing. They answered questions in both German and English with one-word answers, silence !! eye-rolls, and snarky looks amongst themselves. When we decided to give up, an older couple at another table, having received similarly rude treatment, waved and gave us sympathetic looks. What a disappointment. I have been here in Bonn for several weeks and had been looking forward to finally trying this place. It looks so lovely. I'm glad we were able to leave before we spent a lot of money on a spoiled experience.

We were fading a bit in the late afternoon and just needed a pick-me-up. Popped into Fassbender and enjoyed asparagus soup (spargelcremesuppe) and garlic soup (barlauchsuppe) both absolutely delicious.

Beautiful and delicious cakes, I've only went once as a special treat. Not overly expensive either, it's just more upmarket than other places! Would recommend for families.
