I live nearby and tried this restaurant multiple times, hoping for a better experience, but unfortunately, the food is consistently served cold or greasy, and it seems like the frying oil needs to be changed. I was willing to overlook a few mishaps because we all have off days, but after several disappointing visits, I've decided to give up on it.
Soon after, as the server began taking the group’s order, two more customers entered and sat at a booth next to me. Meanwhile, a man sat down in the booth across from mine. The server then went over to the new arrival, took his order, and walked past my booth again to attend to the customers who had seated themselves after me. By this time, it was after 10:30, and since I wanted breakfast, I had to accept that I missed out. I decided it would be best to head down the road to the Village Inn, where they serve breakfast all day and ensure they pay attention to their customers as they arrive. I won’t be returning to Brick Street, whether it be the café or the market; I’ll be taking my business to Hy-Vee instead.
I stopped in to order takeout and sat at the counter while I waited. I paid my bill, which was $10.90, and left a $3.00 tip. After that, they asked me to give up my seat and wait by the door on an uncomfortable bench. They didn’t even offer a drink refill. I won't be returning!
We used to really enjoy this restaurant, so I took some family members who had never been here before. When I approached the counter to order takeout, the lady seemed disinterested, simply said "oh," and walked away without coming back. I ended up waiting for quite a while before leaving and having to call in my order instead. Unfortunately, the takeout food wasn't great, so I reached out to management. He acknowledged that they were having a rough day and promised to send a coupon, but I never received it. There were plenty of staff on hand, but not many customers, so I’m not sure what the issue was. I won’t be going back.
