Nikuzo - Bondi Junction
Nikuzo
Description
This Sydney restaurant offers a "pure" kosher food experience with mouth-watering dishes like miso pork that will leave you wanting more. The atmosphere is clean, white, and beautiful, making it a perfect spot for a cute date. While some reviewers noted slow service during peak times, the quality of the meat significantly improves when opting for the premium options. It is recommended to make a reservation in advance to ensure a pleasant dining experience. Overall, this restaurant is a great option for those looking for fresh and tasty meat dishes in a cozy setting with excellent customer service.

Not that bad a variety of food... however the waitress took multiple reminders to bring us a certain dish and the restaurant was about half full.
Cute place, great service, good food. It was our first time tonight so we got the premium all you can eat menu. Everything was delicious, we will go back but next time ordering the wagyu / seafood all you can eat menu, we can do without the food on the premium menu.
We came here from the city, been waiting for an hour. When the opened, we came in the restaurant straight away but they said booking only, no table for us but there were only 2 tables there. If it's booking only, why don't they say in the website or their facebook. It was so disappointing!!!
No longer run by Japanese Owners as of this month. This was my number 1 spot in Sydney for an excellent JBBQ meal. I have been a regular since 2016 and I loved the quality of meal (marinated), presentation and welcoming service. For me this place never cut corners, quality was amazing and the marinade was what kept me coming back. I recommended it to many friends and families and often had large groups come. However this week was the last time I would drive ~1 hour to this new management JBBQ . They retained the name for now which I found misleading. I did not realise the whole menu has changed. There was a lot of corner cutting that I found. 1. The menu I always opted for the Premium Wagyu Seafood such that I have a selection of over 50 items (the whole menu including tiers below). However I found that they have removed a lot of quality cuts in the premium menu and not only that, you NO LONGER GET TO SELECT EVERYTHING ELSE?? You only get to choose from the premium menu and not the standard. There is only 3 quality cuts Karubi, Skirt and Intercostal. 2. Cheating Menu I ordered Ox Tongue at least 5 times, they changed it to an Ipad ordering system. Instead of informing them that there was no Ox tongue (On the already limited menu), a lot of items were unavailable and deleted off my order list that I already pressed confirm. There was no update from the waiter or staff that they deleted it without saying anything. Not sure but all i heard was laughter when I ordered more on the Ipad. LOL imagine deleting items off your customers order list. I ordered many items that I should have taken a picture of but who would 've thought they would personally delete it off your order list and make it look like you never order at all. Salmon sashimi, edamame, ox tongue.. 3. The price. I do believe back then the price was very good, and the discounts every now and then. But to raise the price, reduce the menu and also have items unavailable during dinner without telling the diners? That is very typical of them. Cut corners at the expense of the customer. If you raise the price, I 'd gladly pay it if the quality remained the same or the variety increased. It is a shame that the discounts, prices, variety all went downhill. 4. Timing VERY dodgy. Timer runs out without warning or informing you at the start how long you have. I have been to many buffets such as Kobe in Sydney where the timer pop up would tell you you have only X amount of time to order the food. Well, we walked in, expected the same from the past years and whilst waiting for the Ox Tongue order that would never come, I decided to just get one last serving of meats and call it. Out of the 90 Minutes, there was 30 minutes left, no pop up or staff telling me last order (as they always did politely). Your time is up at 30 minutes when I tried to press order. No nothing, no dessert, still hungry and waiting for meat that 'll never come. I asked the waiter that there was no warning and I would like to send in the last order but the answer from management was no . I did not argue, smiled at my group just because we all knew we were never coming back. 5. The Meat The quality was decent, but this is JBBQ, not KBBQ. I came for Nikuzo 's marinade 'd meats and the dedicated sauces. The marinade kept me coming back for years, how it perfectly melted in your mouth. The new owners provide 1 sauce, not the three separate ones, labeled as dipping sauce . The meat was served without any marinate except lightly poured right before you cook it. All it did was burn and drop off into the coal cooker. 6. Service I tolerated the old slow service of Nikuzo as the quality was just great. However, deleting items off my order list, not informing old customers, reduced ordering time of 60minutes and purposely delaying service (15 minute average for orders). Bulk orders also didn 't speed things up as they just don 't serve it. Hopefully the old Japanese owners moved somewhere else as I would always gladly go where the OG Nikuzo is. I honestly cannot understand negative reviews on this restaurant. I have been a regular customer here for years with 5 friends who also attend regularly. This is arguably my favourite place for the price in Sydney. Incredible meats and sides. Go the premium menu! Its worth the extra. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
