We came here for our 35th Anniversary dinner. Really nice people, great food, really big selection. The beer selection is perfect and desserts were fabulous. They take reservations. Don 't waste your time and at the Sagamore on fine dining when Pumpernickels is cleaner, nicer, with much better food. Make a reservation and you won 't be disappointed. What Marilyn Bischof doesn't like about Pumpernickel's:
Only ok. Hostess was a tad surly and service marginal. Food was meh. The sauerbraten was not great. Plain dry roast beef drowned in the sauce...and not at all marinated in it. Roast pork was dry and potato pancakes were half mashed potatoes and mushy. No sour cream offered with potato pancakes. The pumpernickel bread, however, was good. View all feedback.
Excellent German food. Not many places around for German. Friendly staff.
Worth the long drive. Food is very authentic german with excellent taste with spices and every plate is a full meal. I always have some to bring home

The mayor platter that serves 2 can easily serve 4. Good German food.
