What Smriti Thakkar doesn't like about Kharimati Resort:
I went there few times last week and this week. Place is nice. Food is below average in taste. Staff are not committed type. Bar has very few varieties of Beer, In fact on 3 Dec, they said they have only TUBORG strong beer. View all feedback.
We did not stay in Kharimati Resort, so Can't comment on rooms and other facilities. The restaurant was very good with Traditional Bengali Menu served in brass utensils. Quality and Quantity of food was very nice with reasonable price. The restaurant also offers dining area within the garden which is also attractive.
Getting a good restaurant is a challenge in Bolpur / Shantiniketan. However, Kharimati is definitely one of those better places where you can enjoy a good meal. I would say that it is much better than the highly hyped (and over priced) Banalakshmi. The quality of food is good even during the peak seasons - unlike other places in Shantiniketan where they struggle to maintain the standard.
Good and beautiful resort it is. The area is very big and beautiful. Stayed there 2 night and enjoyed a lot.
There are very limited accommodation options available on the way to Sandakphu or beyond. A great option is Hotel Sunrise in Sandakphu, but their contact information is not working. Since this place is on the border of India and Nepal, people have connections in both countries. Another excellent option is Hotel Sherpa Chalet in Sandakphu run by Mr. Pemba (Mobile: 8918466713/ WhatsApp: 8509252318). However, as this hotel has very few rooms that are often fully booked, we were fortunate to find a place 1.2 km beyond Sandakphu called "Ahal" on the way to Phalut. Ahal offers a spectacular view of the Sleeping Buddha and stunning sunsets. The host family at Ahal, known as Ahal View Point Homestay, is the only accommodation in Ahal with a few rooms and a dormitory. The owner of this family-run guesthouse is Mr. Gaytcho (Mobile: 977-9862676439), who can be contacted via WhatsApp. Another option for accommodation is the GTA Trekker’s Huts available in Manebhanjan, Tumling, Tonglu, Kalipokhri, Gairibas, Sandakphu, and Phalut.
During my trip, I had the chance to have lunch at this stunning resort with a picturesque view. The place is well-maintained with lovely decor and ambiance. The service from the staff was fantastic and very helpful. The presentation of the lunch was also excellent, served with ghee and in kasar thala. However, ultimately the taste of the food is what really matters.
