Reviews - Solid Grill
Reviews summary
Nestled in downtown Boise, this restaurant exudes a low-key yet contemporary vibe, making it a popular spot for locals, including writers and artists. While the ambiance is charming, with a lovely back patio and refreshing drinks like the espresso martini, experiences can vary significantly. Some diners report inattentive service and mediocre food, while others rave about standout dishes like the NY Strip and chocolate bread pudding. Though several patrons highlight service issues, including delays and mixed quality of meals, the venue still garners recommendations for its relaxing atmosphere and healthy menu options. A mixed bag, this spot may entice patrons for drinks and casual bites.

We had a lovely time at the Solid. The gentleman on staff was so friendly and attentive it felt more like meeting a new friend than just another stop in a restaurant. That guy needs a raise! The food was great and we had the joy of watching some live music while we were there. A great low cost place to visit downtown where those are few and far between. AMAZING!! I ordered through Uber Eats. I'm from through Southern United States and have been here 20 years. BY Far the Absolute best grits I've had in 20 years!! I ordered the shrimp and grits and my better half the herded chicken and risotto. I loved them both!! Amazing job preparing these meals. Everything was cooked to perfection not over or under done. I will definitely frequent this establishment.
Solid Grill Bar is more than just a place to eat, it's a vibrant hub in Boise where good food, good drinks, and good times come together. Rain was quick, efficient and witty. Absolutely recommend stopping by! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $10–20

The pita bread was awesome, the lamb was thin and not fresh and the tiziki not cucumbery enough. The fries and strawberry lemonade and my server, Karin, have me waiting to return to try something else. Yes, I recommend!
I just ate here while in Boise for a job with a colleague. Overall a good experience. Server was nice and prompt, it was super empty at the time we visited at 1:15PM on a Wednesday. My chicken and waffles was fine, chicken had no seasoning I could tastebut everything was made to order and fresh. My colleagues chicken tacos were average as well, no complaints. The vibe therewas not the best though. The music selection was terrible along with the decor, this place is maybe better at night.??????????? I think with a little professional restaurant consulting this could be an awesome spot. If you’re in the area Ithink you could find other options with a better atmosphere.
Our waitress was super nice. Water came with cucumber slices in it I hate cucumber, but appreciated the effort/touch). We had the hummus plate for an app- it was topped with tomato, whole chickpeas and a curry drizzle. I had the Vegan enchiladas. l am ameat eater), They had a green sauce that I'm not used to, but still good. the rice and beans they came with was well seasoned. Itried my friends quinoa salad and I loved the flavor but it was undercooked. :
The food was really good once we got it. Took forever. Our waitress was not the best. We had the street tacos, the New York strip and the raspberry beret (could’ve been better but not bad). I loved the cucumber water they served. The entertainment,Dylan, was great and the ambiance was perfect for our 8 month anniversary. It would’ve been a 5 if our waitress was better.
Solid is a nice place to grab a late night meal. The staff was very nice and communicative about what time the kitchen closes and about staffing if they are short. They staff is knowledgeable of what spirits they have and drinks that are in season andpopular. As well as their house BBQ for their chicken wings is a must. They have a large space available for banquets and otherparties you may want to have. Go check them out and hear about their special along with enjoying happy hour twice a day from1600-1800 and 2200-0000.

The defibrillator burger is my absolute favorite! Love this place, and love that they’re open late.
Server Brittany hostess were great, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Food was delicious and generous portions. We ate on Saturday, June 19th, just after 11:00pm. The problem that ruined our evening was seated outdoor next to our table was a loud profane party of 4. The worst was a former worker (or worker with a night off) that came to celebrate her 30th birthday (with her boyfriend, brother and a date). She constantly played loud video clips on her phone and cursed frequency. I might expect that behavior at a rowdy bar, not here. We were not the only table put off by her antics. I understand that Solid is a relaxed restaurant, but she was very low-class crude. Whether your employees are on the clock or off, they represent your establishment and we have soured on any plans to return. Update: seems things have gotten worse. Look at their restroom.
Food was tasteless but at least it was cooked well. Service was inattentive as they were also pretty busy, but still our server came and asked us only twice throughout an hour if we needed anything or more water. Probably wouldn't go back unless for drinks.
The food is delicious and worth the price for what you will be getting (portion-wise). For food, I highly recommend the chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits, and nacho platter! For cocktails, my go-to is always their lavender lemon drop. Staff is very sweet and informs us if our orders will take a little time based on the kitchen's process with other orders.

We dined on the patio and enjoyed some fantastic live music while misters kept us cool. My husband ordered gyros, my son had a BLT with tempeh in place of bacon, and I went for the club sandwich. Everything was delicious, and the fries were exceptional. Our waiter was very friendly as well. The lavender lemon drop was amazing—I ended up having two! (Haha)
We had a wonderful evening dining outdoors at Solid Grill Bar. The service was outstanding, and the food was delicious. We were extremely pleased and will definitely return.
We were quite disappointed with the service we experienced during our visit. The restaurant was not busy when we arrived, and we were seated right away, given menus and water. However, after 20 minutes, we still hadn’t seen our server. We had to request assistance from someone. When the waitress finally came, she apologized and took our drink and food orders. Although the drinks took a little while to arrive, it wasn’t too bad. Unfortunately, after that, the waitress was rarely seen, and when she did pass by, she didn’t check on us or ask if we wanted more drinks. We had to go to the bar to request a second round of drinks. An hour later, we still hadn’t received our food. We were informed that the kitchen was overwhelmed, but the restaurant was not busy at all. In fact, others who arrived after us were already being served. After waiting for an hour and a half, we decided to leave without ever getting our dinner, as we had tickets to a show we needed to attend. On a positive note, the gentleman who was singing and playing guitar was excellent.
Excellent atmosphere, great food, and reasonable prices! Definitely will go again!
I had not been here since pre-covid and some things have changed on the menu. They no longer had the fried haloumi cheese appetizer that I loved on the menu so that was disappointing but I really enjoyed the pear gorgonzola salad with grilled shrimp added. The devil's cooler drink was amazing! Service was good and so was the live singer.

We weren’t fans. Mac n Cheese was more like fondue, but the shrimp n grits were good. The indoor radio plus live outdoor music made it hard to hear much. Shared bathrooms were dirty.
The atmosphere is quite nice and the prices are reasonable. Our group had mixed review about the food quality. The pear salad and kimchi fries were outstanding. The hamburger was quite good but the shrimp and grits were so greasy and overcooked as to be a waste of good food. The service was fine and the waiter was a great communicator about when our food would be arriving. Overall, a B- experience compared to other Boise restaurants.
The food was fantastic, and it’s a great spot to grab a meal before a show at the Knitting Factory, which is exactly what my boyfriend and I did. The waitstaff was wonderful, and the patio provided a lovely atmosphere to sit, eat, and unwind. If we return to Boise, we will definitely stop by again.
