Raw Sushi - Boise

Most roll here must be brighta modified to make them vegan and then there is no taste at all. I'll stay home.

The Veggie section featured around six rolls, but most needed modifications to make them vegan. The Maui roll was quite good, but the others fell short since they were missing ingredients and sauces to accommodate a vegan diet. If you're a vegetarian, this place might be perfect for you, but as a vegan, I would likely only return if accompanied by a group of friends who aren't vegetarian. On the plus side, the service was excellent! The staff was very helpful in identifying vegan options and double-checked everything for us.

I appreciate that Raw is connected to Willowcreek, as it allows friends who aren't as fond of sushi to choose from either menu. I personally prefer the ambiance on the Willowcreek side, and interestingly enough, the atmosphere becomes cozier towards the back. For the best experience, either snag one of the booths at the back (and order that excellent roll from the Raw side) or enjoy the patio on a nice day. Service here is consistently excellent, although it can get busy, so I recommend calling ahead to avoid a long wait. This place is perfect for a date night, as long as you plan ahead before heading out.

I have ordered (among other things) the same Spicy Yellowtail roll 6 times in the last 60 days. 4 out of the 6 times the roll has been made differently with varying degrees of rice. The first 2 times the roll had Nori on the outside. These rolls were the BEST. They were very simple with the right amount of fish and rice with a little bit of jalapeno inside just to give it the right kick. The others have had rice on the outside and all different ways of making it spicy and each time the roll has a different amount of rice. (Pro Tip: try using 80 grams of rice per roll) The rice has also been hit or miss. The last one I got the rice was WAY undercooked. I know that these are hard times for restaurants and staff but you still need to be consistent. When you are charging for a product it needs to be the same each time as close as you can get or the customer is going to be frustrated. I have been eating with you guys for years and appreciate what you do but I know if someone does not tell you what's going on your cannot make adjustments. Good food on a nice patio with friends on a hot summer day what more could you want. My fish tacos were excellent. The live music was fun too. The cauliflower appetizer bites were excellent. We were joking that we have a restaurant in Helena Montana called McKenzie that serves a sandwich that is called the Willow creek so we should win a prize?
