Agave Azul - Bogotá

My friend who lived in Bogota recommended this place and my husband and I ate here tonight. It was the most magical experience. We should make Ave a reservation, but we didn't know. We expected a regular restaurant, not a hidden gem from the way in a charming home. The food was the best Mexican food we had everywhere. The staff is super-professional and they cook everything and bring it out to you. I don't know how much more food they had brought out, but we were full. Everything was so fresh and delicious. The vibe added the music and the charming decor and the artwork. This is a place you need to try when you are in Bogota. Before we left, we met the owner and she was as charming as her home and restaurant. We want to go back before we leave.

I tend to use the word “experience” only when it is an authentic gastronomic adventure. In this restaurant the passion and talent of the cook can be seen in every detail: research for sophisticated ingredients, decor, presentation and the distinctive place that creates a narrative and an emotional experience. Top brands for Margarita; the Ceviche and Tortillas are unforgettable. This is not a restaurant: it is a fascinating trip to Mexico without traveling there.

Our meal in Agave Azul was one of the most delicious I ever had. The margaritas, tacos, guacamole, meat courses and dessert are wonderful, but the actual star of the show is the salmonceviche. Very recommended!
