Southfork Grill - Bloomfield
Southfork Grill
Description
A budget-friendly, old‑school motel with freshly updated rooms, very comfortable beds and notably friendly staff. Clean, quiet and good value for short stays, it pairs well with an attached restaurant that often earns praise for generous portions and fair prices—though food quality can be inconsistent. Expect thin walls, small/older TVs and limited hotel amenities. Practical for travelers needing proximity to local venues, it’s worth considering if you prioritize warmth, service and price over modern luxuries.

First, let's talk about the dinner: Fried mushrooms appetizer- standard Sysco or Martin Brothers bagged breaded mushrooms. They were small, but tasty. Eight of them for $4.95 was a bit weird. Flaming Fork burger: Holy mother of all things wrong with a burger. No buffalo sauce, ranch dressing or Bleu cheese. However, there was a delicious bun, that just probably had a birthday, because it wasn't delicious really, it was stale, crumbly and gross. Now the feature of this bad boy- the beef patty! I don't think a 9 year old in deep Louisiana during the month of August could grill some opossum patties on a blacktop road could do any worse than what this patty came like. Now onto the spotlight of all restaurants that want to cater to being fancy while being a down home dish, the Chicken Cordon Bleu It looks like the same 9 year old wrestled a 1 eyed alligator, skinned its tail and fileted half of it to fry in lard after soaking it in 6 day old pancake batter. Ham? Naaa! But ohhh that gooey swiss cheese?? Ha!!! Notta chance! Not with this burnt half a deflated football. The Corona was cold. There- that's your 1 star. Do not ever, ever, never ever ever eat here. If somebody would've blindfolded me and told me I was in Springfield Ohio I would've believed them. And then, we switched rooms 3 times- 111 to 114 to 115. Don't ask. See dinner review and apply it to our room stay. The gentleman was cordial but honestly, spend another $35 and stay a mile up the road.
My mom and sister stayed here last year on their way to Houston, MO. Mom had been so impressed with the kindness of the staff and cleanliness of the rooms I decided to make this our halfway stop for her to rest overnight while on our annual trip to Houston. I, too, am impressed with their kindness and cleanliness. Thank you for providing a clean, safe, affordable place for your guests to stay. As for the comments about this motel being datedI think it is part of the charm and welcoming feel. I hope they don’t lose that hometown feel after finishing their updates.
I recently stayed at South Fork Motel and Grill, and it was a delightful experience. The rooms were clean, cozy, and well-maintained, providing a comfortable retreat after a long day. The staff was friendly and attentive, making sure all our needs were met. The highlight was definitely the grill—offering delicious, hearty meals that were a perfect end to the day. The scenic surroundings added to the charm, making it an ideal spot for relaxation. I highly recommend South Fork Motel and Grill for its excellent service, great food, and welcoming atmosphere.
Overall very happy w/ the hotel for the price. Really liked the recent remodel. Only constructive criticisms would be nice if there were more breakfast options and room cleaning started a bit later. Service: 5
Restaurant has the best food and prices are awesome. Rooms have been somewhat updated a nice place to stay. I was hoping for coffee the next morning none was made it was empty. My wife wanted toast the toaster didn’t work. Nobody around to assist with these issues. Went to Casey’s in the next town to get coffee. Disappointed. Service: 1
