Feedback
We had dinner there on a very hot afternoon/evening. We were sitting by the main building and we really appreciated the refreshing mist coming on every 10 minutes! Nice touch when it's still 32 degrees outside. Service was average, not really happy. Food was average. We had better crepes in other places. The children didn't even eat theirs. The children's ice-cream were not that good, and enormous. The location is beautiful which is why the place is always busy. Walk down to the port to find some better eating experiences.
Should I mention the other customers? I think a restaurant attracts customers like itself so it helps to describe what sort of place it is. Well for starters, the citadel in Blaye is stupendous. Most of the shops/hotels /restaurants within the citadel are very expensive, and Le Bastion is not cheap, but it's a very attractive environment on the street with parasols to keep the fierce sun off, and it seems to be family run by which I mean the communication between staff is flawless and the service fast and enthusiastic. We put our parasol up between the two big restaurant parasols to stop a shaft of sunlight, and nobody objected. Food - lots of choice of galetes (savoury pancakes) including vegetarian. Drink lots of non alcoholic fruits and pressés as well as the usual alcoholic fare. Will recommend to everyone visiting Blaye on the Gironde
