Scruffy Murphys - Blackpool
Scruffy Murphys
Description
This restaurant boasts a vibrant atmosphere perfect for post-work drinks, though it can become raucous during major football matches. With a mixture of good food, reasonable beer prices, and a lively jukebox selection, patrons appreciate the friendly staff and bustling local energy. While it’s a great spot for pre-show drinks in a popular area, some minor issues, like cleanliness in restrooms and the presence of beer flies, detract from the experience. Overall, it remains a favorite destination for those visiting Blackpool, despite occasional service hiccups.

This restaurant is conveniently located for pre-show drinks before heading to the grand theatre, but that’s where the positives end. I sat in the back near the pool table where I was bothered by a swarm of tiny beer flies, which was quite unpleasant. I also noticed a can of fly spray behind the bar, so it’s clear they are aware of the infestation issue!
I really appreciate the local atmosphere, the vibe is fantastic, and they offer excellent beer; however, the experience is tarnished by poor restroom cleanliness.
The atmosphere is fantastic for a post-work drink, making you feel as if you've stepped into another world. However, I recommend avoiding it during major football matches, as things can get rowdy and there’s a chance of altercations. On a positive note, the beer prices are quite reasonable.
Wow! I absolutely love this place! The jukebox has such an eclectic mix of music, from Black Sabbath to David Sylvian to Prince. The beer selection could be better, though; I had 330ml Peronis for £3.70. The staff is fantastic, and the patrons are really friendly. I wish they had “Wish” by U2 on the jukebox... maybe I'll just have to come back for another visit!
There’s nothing particularly bad about this establishment. It’s a bustling pub located in a popular spa area, offering good food and drink options. There’s live music and TVs in the bars, as well as outdoor seating available. The place is quite busy, which is a positive indication. I would certainly visit again if I find myself in Blackpool.
