The Queen Vic - Blackburn with Darwen

This is my favourite chippy, no doubt. No fish and chips like this chippy thats my opinion. I always visit 2 or 3 times a week or even more. Very good food and fresh most the time. Good customer service most times to. But.... on several occasions i have found hairs in my food, it's clearly a dark black curly mans hair. One of the guys workers hair. It was disgusting and put me off my food. It actually put me off going back again but because its my absolute favourite I still go back. When i went to complain to the guy on the counter at the time, he said its not any of our hair because we all have hats on. I said look at it, it's not exactly a long girls hair and its not mine. Then he didnt say anything and swapped my food. At that time none of them did have hats on which they should have been told of by they boss for this but i dont think he was in on that day. Another time i ordered my food i was charged extra when I didn't even order what i was charged extra for, good job i spotted it and got a refund straight away. Today 19/12/22 the same guy who charged me extra has charged me for a reg chips which i ordered but then has given me a small. I said i ordered and was charged for a regular and youve given me a small, he said well they both the same. I said they not, i always order the samething and i know whats the difference. I dont understand because when you place youre order they read it back to you so how can they possible get it wrong?!. I am sure he doesnt know what hes doing if hes made the same mistake with me twice or its deliberate. Its a shame i dont know his name to write in the review. Hope the service improves soon.

Absolutely terrible, overcooked frozen fish, day old chips in old oil. Don’t waste your money at this dump. The worst part about this place is the appalling attitude of the “chef” cooking the fish and chips, he speaks to the staff like they are dirt, utterly disgraceful man who quite frankly needs to be taught a lesson in manners. This place is completely delisted, if I was starving to death I would crawl past!

This was the place to go when it opened but the quality of food has gone down hill... Serving old chips and over cooked fish, not a patch on the Preston branch. GUYS PLEASE SORT IT OUT !!!!!

I have been to this place a few times before and always enjoyed it. This time I was craving fish and chips so I ordered a large one to take home and enjoy. However, this time the fish coating was hard as if it had been refried. We ate some of it complaining to each other. Then I decided I should at least let them know. So I telephoned them. The lady who picked up the phone passed it to a man who I understood was the manager. I explained why I was complaining. He became defensive saying they never refried their fish, it wasn't possible, he would have to see it to believe it. He then said I should bring it back. Bearing in mind the lockdown and inconvenience of going all that way just to prove to him..I just couldn't be bothered. So I called them again and said I couldn't be bothered to come all that way just to prove to them. I had only rung them as I thought they should be aware and that I would be leaving a review. So check the food before you take it away

The haddock is huge. The portions of chips are huge. Gravy curry and peas all great. Probably the best fish and chips I’ve had in years. Worth the drive. Blooming marvellous!
