Description

Nestled in Black Earth, this family-owned diner captures small-town charm with generous portions, wallet-friendly prices, and standout comfort dishes — notably inventive mac & cheese in bread bowls and a well-regarded brisket. Hearty breakfasts (skillets, oversized pancakes) and homemade sauces earn frequent praise, as does the warm, welcoming atmosphere. Most guests find the staff friendly and the food fresh, though a few reports note occasional short‑staffing and hurried service. Overall, it’s a highly recommended stop for families and travelers passing through.

This family-owned restaurant embodies what I love most about small-town America. If you find yourself in Black Earth, make sure to stop by for breakfast with your family. The prices are incredibly reasonable, and the portions are fantastic.

This restaurant is fantastic, offering excellent service and a wide variety of unique mac and cheese dishes served in a bread bowl. The food is top-notch and the portions are generous. The brisket was exceptional. We were thoroughly impressed and only wish it were closer to where we live! I highly recommend it, even if you have to go a bit out of your way!

My sister and our husbands walked in and were asked if we wanted breakfast or lunch. We all chose breakfast, but then the hostess/waitress abruptly informed us that we needed to hurry because we only had eight minutes. She then went to the back and told the cook, who responded angrily, demanding that we rush. The customer service was appalling, and we would never return there again. We promptly got up and left.

The food here is outstanding—hot and freshly prepared! We tried the Wisconsin Brat mac and cheese and the brisket sandwich, both of which were fantastic. Definitely worth a visit!
