The restaurant offers refined dining techniques and wonderful flavors, though the presentation is somewhat extravagant. Our server was excellent! We enjoyed the smoked fish plate, small neck clams, orange duck, and dessert. However, I felt the prices were a bit high. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Grove Market:
The waitress was excellent, but the meal was quite disappointing. We had to send back the lamb because it was undercooked, and the smoked tuna, duck, pork, and scallop dishes we ordered were just mediocre. None of us left the restaurant feeling satisfied. Perhaps the regular chef was off or on vacation, but I won't be returning. View all feedback.
This is not the same Grove market. The ambiance is gone, as is the wonderful old owners and atmosphere. Incredibly loud compared to the old place. Patrons were rude and obnoxiously loud. The food was okay, but not at those prices anymore. No longer a unique and pleasurable dining experience. Sad.
I recently ate at the grove, probably my sixth or seventh time eating there in the last several years. I must say I was a little disappointed because the prices have seem to have gone through the roof. I did expect it to be a bit pricey, as it has always been, but the quality was always there this time I paid $42 for six scallops which were pretty good but not great. My partner who is a vegetarian was only provided with a pasta Primavera dish for $25 and she was quite disappointed after I had really played up, how great the grove market is she said she could get pasta Primavera anywhere and for about half the price. Would be nice if they had a vegetarian gourmet option instead of a salad and pasta. I was also a little surprised that the house salad was 12 bucks and my appetizer was 18. However, the thing I was most disappointed about was the pie that they've always serve. They're so delicious but they are cutting it into such slivers now and charging $11 per slice and it certainly isn't worth that. So, I think I've been to the grove for the last time due to the excessive cost .
What a different style restaurant than we are used to! This was our first visit and we hope to go back when in town next season. It's cash only! The waiter gets everyone's attention and shares the daily appetizer menu, then entree menu and finally the dessert menu. We started with the lobster bisque, smoked pate and house salad. Lobster bisque had chunks of real lobster was a bit salty. The pate was delicious and they brought over more crackers for us. The salad was delicious and fresh! For entrees we had filet mignon, scallops, grouper, leg of lamb and Chilean sea bass. The Chilean sea bass was prepared with a crab meat topping and was so delicious! The grouper looked fried and it tasted delicious with the chipotle topping. Leg of lamb was cooked to perfection and the filet was perfect! We made the reservation a few days before and we were there on the last weekend before it closed for the season. Desserts were delicious too! Key lime pie was so light and airy.
Love, love, love this place! Eating here is truly an experience! The menu changes on a regular basis. The seating is limited so you need to reserve far in advance. We are here during COVID and we're able to sit in a small tent. It was perfect! I have been here several times for special occasions. It's been a perfect place to go for ladies' weekends and for our anniversary. Eclectic, fun and definitely a place where you will spend a few hours--it's truly a fun dining experience!!
When you first drive up to it you look around and wonder What is so special about this place? Then you walk in and have the drinks and eat the food and then know why this place is special. The people are great, the service is great and the food was delicious.. Will definitely go back when we are back in Maryland.
