What Michael Schuett doesn't like about Yew Tree Cottage Indian:
The mixed grill was ok but the balti was not a balti. It was chicken in pureed onion. No spice or taste beyond onion. Really poor. Not sure what happened tonight as it is generally ok. It went in the bin after 2 mouth fulls...it was that bad and the fact that there has been a 10% plus increase in prices I would expect an increase in quality. They need to employ a chef who actually can cook each order. Disappointing. View all feedback.
Nice food, staff lovely and helpful! Would definitely visit again
Usually very good food but last night not so. Maybe different chef?
The chicken Tikka masala had no chicken tikka or proper Masala sauce it was small chunks of normal chicken in a spicy tomato sauce. The lamb balti although edible was more like a lamb curry than a Balti and the keema Nan lasted 8 mins before half of it was as solid as stiff cardboard. Extremely disappointed, used the cottage for years but this is now the 3rd meal that I was not happy with, time to find a new take away.
The chicken curry was not as good as usual and the Nan's were very hard at the edges
Cold over priced and cheap tasting won't be using again
