Reviews - Subside
Reviews summary
Nestled in central Birmingham’s alternative scene, this lively rock pub blends dive-bar charm with inclusive, queer-friendly hospitality. Staff and security are attentive and compassionate, safeguarding customers and belongings; student deals, competitions and a varied beer list keep prices fair. Nights feature loud live bands and a rocking playlist, pool tables, a relaxed beer garden (with smoking area) and wheelchair access including a Radar-key toilet. Expect late crowds after midnight — ideal for concert-goers and alternative crowds, less so for anyone seeking a quiet, fine-dining experience.

I visited Subside recently after many years and it was as great as ever, super inclusive with a friendly team, especially Ella and Jimmy, both of them made me feel very much welcome and comfortable during my visit I highly recommend if you’re looking for quality music, fair prices and an inclusive and friendly atmosphere! Great place to be. Good atmosphere and nice choice of drinks. We where there after the Black Sabbath Ozzy Osbourne farewell gig. Had a lovely night out there. Price per person: £30–40 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
Came to watch the 'back to the begining ' ozzy live stream, Absolutly awesome day/night, got pretty busy in there but atmosphere was electric, amazing and friendly and the bar staff are so quick and efficient at what they do we hardly had to wait for service, definitely be back. Absolutely fantastic! The staff were wonderful, and when a friend of mine experienced some unfortunate events earlier in the day, they were understanding and compassionate, despite his inappropriate comments. Later, he lost his phone, and the bar staff went out of their way to keep it safe for him. Great job, everyone!
Highly popular venue at Altplatz. We discovered it as our second choice after the gig we were attending at the O2 got canceled. We enjoyed performances from three bands, which were quite enjoyable but also very loud—either bring earplugs or get something from the bar. The beer selection is excellent, and the atmosphere is very inclusive. Overall, it was a fantastic (and free) night out!
Best alternative pub/club in Birmingham. You meet all kinds of people in the smoking accommodation without worrying that you will be spiked. Cool performances and events on, what can you want more?
That's a great bar! The drinks are reasonably priced, and the staff are friendly. It's an excellent venue for live bands and outdoor events.
I visited a month ago with a few friends and I wasn’t really a fan of rock music however the environment definitely changed my mind. Great bar staff and bouncers were quick on the scene to sort out trouble. Good atmosphere, cheap drinks compared to town prices, pool and a relaxed beer garden. 5/5
