As a person that usually struggles to find a dish in a Indian restaurant that i would get excited about i was told about shimla Pinks in Birmingham. I was told that if i didn't like the Indian food in this restaurant i should give up. My Partner and myself chose the exec Banquet which came out promptly and as each dish was finished the next would follow with a smile from the waiter which was polite and entertaining w... I had booked a table for 10 people for my bachelorette party, and despite receiving a reminder the day before, when we arrived the restaurant was closed. It completely ruined our evening! I was extremely disappointed with both Shimla Pinks and OpenTable. I will never use that site again.
I booked here for my partner's birthday on a weekend away in Birmingham. I chose the restaurant based on good reviews and the stylish photographs. Upon arrival I was not disappointing, the restaurant looked great and the staff were very accommodating in making my partner a cocktail which wasn't on the menu. Unfortunately this was where the positives end. The food was served worryingly quickly but we kept an open mind. We ordered three different dishes to share and a peshwari naan. two of the three dishes lacked any flavour and one was incredibly spicy but didn't actually taste of much. The peshwari naan was also very flavourless and oily, I wouldn't have known it was a peshwari if I hadn't have pulled it apart to check it had some filling. Unfortunately we won't return to or recommend this restaurant which is a shame because it does look beautiful.
We used to frequent Shimlas every time we visited Birmingham. They were located further down Broad Street back then. However, the quality of the food has significantly declined since our last visit. The dishes are now mediocre, heavy, and lacking in freshness. The pricing is unjustifiably high for the subpar quality, resembling that of an average Indian restaurant on any ordinary street. Although the service was good and the ambiance was pleasant, the disappointing food tarnished our overall experience. It is disheartening to see a restaurant with such potential fall short of expectations.
The food was excellent, my only criticism was the service, had to ask for every course to be drlivered and was not offered drinks until asked for them
Absolute shocking went there valentines day .they rang me in the day can we come in earlier ,we booked a table for 8 we arrived just before 7.30 ,it was a mad house the starters came quick ,but had to wait an hour for the main meal ,then the dessert soon after, never again expensive terrible service not good food o well you learn never again
