There is no way we could have slept for an afternoon kip. We...had been offered a free drink on arrival but the unusual bar times meant we couldn’t get the free drink anyway. The breakfast in the morning was not great with tinned tomatoes and tinned mushrooms. The staff were the best part about this stay, they were very friendly and helpful but this didn’t make up for the low quality in other areas. Some of the main reception rooms are pretty but the bedrooms generally looked tired and outdated. This place was good enough for one night but I wouldn’t want to stop here again.

Upon checking in on Sunday August at was offered no information regarding the breakfast times or if any food was available by the male overseeing reception duties. But both I and my nephew were told by another male in attendance that women could...be made available if required. Room was large but nothing like the photographs indicated on the website which must have be taken at least years ago. Every room was badly in need of a face-lift. All painted surfaces were tired and dull; wall paper was cracked on faded; bathroom ripping out and everything replacing. Shower was woeful and required replacing; shower screen was an ancient plastic sheet. The ventilator in the bathroom was in reality an outlet to the adjoining room and it became patently obvious what was going on next door. Breakfast on Monday August was served late. It was a mediocre cold serving of basic food items which were poorly presented served by a restaurant assistant wearing a tee shirt. Breakfast on Tuesday September was served on time. Diners were efficiently attended to by Elisha who was professionally turned out, courteous and looked after diners in an amiable, business-like manner. The deliciously cooked breakfast was prepared, cooked and presented by top chef Damian. Most of the staff were well turned-out and conducted themselves in a professional manner. I would suggest a Mystery Guest visit in order to record the standards at this hotel.
I stayed here on business for three nights and will not use it again. Even allowing for covid measures my experience was nothing short of bad. My room was two rooms short of the furthest away from the reception possible in the sprawling up and...downstairs and up again building with no lift or assistance with bags offered. The room itself was spacious and clean which probably was one of only two positives. There was no information given for evening meals so my first meal was a bag of peanuts as food stopped at Leaving for work early morning meant trawling corridors are looking for a member of staff to let you out of the locked door. Breakfast was from so I missed that too. Ready for my evening meal and somewhat hungry I was in good time for this meal and finally found one I damaged chair amongst the broken rattan dining are outside but was horrified with what I was served. They had the nerve to call it Lasagne. A bowl of ice cream as the waffles offered were out of stock) I requested be served raw and was served a bowl of freezer freeze ice cream which I ate purely out of hunger. Second morning again struggling to get out. Third and last evening I was served by my second positive I’m only sad I didn’t get his name but his customer service was a pleasant blessing on the place- though he was under huge pressure by himself waiting food and serving at the bar on a fairly busy night. I was delighted to leave next morning. If heirarchy are looking in I’m sorry to be so negative but working in the hospitality trade myself this establishment does very little for the Best Western chain name. I’d recommend an anonymous stay to check it out yourself. I won’t return that’s for sure!
Really disappointed. I booked afternoon tea as a belated Christmas present for my Aunt. To say we were underwhelmed would be kind. The sandwiches were just okay, a little drying on the edges and in no way generous. The slices of Victoria sponge couldn't even...be called slices, barely more than a bite. The same goes for the miniscule triangles of Brownie, though delicious they were tiny. The scones were thin and not particularly tasty. We booked through a Groupon voucher which, although it's incredibly bad customer service, is I hope why it was so bad because if we'd paid full price I would have complained there and then. The waitress was friendly but if I'd been her I'd would have been embarrassed to bring it to the table. Do not recommend.
