We were recommended to try the Gorkha Lounge for a vegan meal during our weekend trip to Durham, and we were not disappointed. I ordered the vegan tikka masala and vegan garlic naan, both of which were delicious. The service was fantastic, with the owner stopping by to chat and ensure everything was to our liking. The rest of the staff was also very helpful and attentive. My partner, who is not vegan, and I both rate... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Gorkha Lounge:
The food was okay, I had ordered a chicken tikka main which was ment to come out on a skillet with onions an ended up coming out as a curry which had no taste, another person ordered a mixed grill which was small came with plain Nan bread but paid 50p extra for flavoured one but ended up with both. All curries were mild and had little taste. The mint yoghurt dip was very thick and creamy. Overall the food was average... View all feedback.
First review first takeaway delivery from this place, as my usual Indian doesn't care for vegans and wow! I can't expect to go back. for beginners I had the chilli garlic mushroom, which was at 4.45 was the cheapest vegan starter on the menu and I was not disappointed. there are 6 appetizers that I can choose from, but I think that will be mine, as it is so good! my main thing was I was less impressed that I was still getting used to meat substitutes and there were some in the everest chicken curry 9.95), which I could not identify and was not so enthusiastic. the soße was amazing, but I don't think I did this for a past, but again, there are so many to choose! also my non-vegan bf was very impressed by his eating. so a victor around. order online and get 15% discount. the only thing that could be improved is the description of what the meals there are no details about the ingredients and there is no spice/heat evaluation. the next evening roll so we can order again! (also food-in option for if we allowed post-covid) we had problems at the second time when we had ordered, my eating was terrible, my partner were great. we discussed it with the owners and we worked through the problems. the customer service was excellent. menu choices were discussed and other dishes were recommended. the third time that we ordered was great (new courts tried on the advice of the owners), but my partner (omnivore) meal was not. over oily and edible. again discussed with the owners and problems worked through. the time we ordered, we were both amazed. I tried more teller and I can't wait to order again! are looking forward to updating the website that is in progress! updated by previous review on 2021-02-24
Great to see a traditional curry house adding a full vegan menu alongside their standard menu. More dishes are being added regularly so always something new to try. The staff are very friendly and positive about vegan alternatives.
Delicious Nepalese food with a lot of choice for vegans and the staff are amazing and friendly.
Oh my goodness.. If you’re looking for amazing Vegan Indian food then come here.. You won’t regret it!! They have so many vegan options including starters, mains and desserts. We have had many take aways from here but today ate in the for the first time. Very friendly staff who are very accommodating and knowledgeable about vegan options and other dietary requirements. Has a very extensive vegan menu that they are constantly expanding. Will also make dishes vegan on request. The food is always delicious and we will continue to be regular customers here. We park at the nearby Morrison's and walking under the underpass as parking outside the restaurant is not available.
