Rather basic hotel food. Some cleanliness issues, had to send back some items of crockery due to them being dirty. Portions mediocre size for price. Many better options close by to the hotel.
I couldn’t fault the restaurant itself however I arranged a valentines date at the crowne plaza B 1 restaurant. Both my date and myself arrived at the front of house and asked where the B1 Restaurant was located . My date was told it was the other side of town so got a taxi to said destination. Which meant she was not there when I arrived . When I asked, I was met with sorry I don’t know . Lucky I use my eyesight and noticed the restaurant sign . I then called my partner and told her where I was she return to the very place she Initially arrived at the upshot of this was we had only hour and a half with each other and only one of us eating. I am astonished the staff in the hotel do not know the name and location of their own restaurant. I travelled quite far for the evening only for it to be cut short .
This has to be the worst experience I have had through OpenTable. Firstly, at no point in the booking was the actual location of this restaurant revealed. It is the dining room of the Crowne Plaza hotel! The address on the app does not say this, and had it been made clear, we would not have booked it. I am sure this is deliberate. If you wish to eat a one star dinner at four star dinner prices whilst surrounded by tables made up for breakfast then this is the place for you. The ambience was non existent, the service slack and badly trained. The food was not good. Steaks were tough and over cooked. Desserts were poor. The overall experience was really bad. However, the prices were premium and there is absolutely no justification for this. To make matters worse, a service charge was automatically added to the bill for four. It is just not acceptable that this kind of entitled behaviour continues. The overall experience was that we felt tricked into the booking and had we been earlier, we would have left before ordering.
