Came here on a recommendation, food was fresh and great. The seafood Gumbo had seafood in each bite. The po-boy's French bread was soft and airy, and the shrimp were fried fresh. Sarah was great as well had great suggestions for it being my first time, and was managing FOH by herself during lunch. Impressed and will be back. View all feedback.
What Steve H doesn't like about Cajun Boys Our Poboys:
Been a while since I went to this place, in my memory the food was good. Today, meh- I had the catfish poboy combo with seafood gumbo. The poboy was slathered in a bit too much tartar sauce (or was it mayo? and the gumbo was the most disappointing, a lot of rice and just didn't have that filé flavor I love with authentic gumbo. Oh, and my $15.99 lunch had $1 added on for a plastic cup of water. Might be a while befor... View all feedback.
We started with a cup of Grandma Donovan's Seafood Gumbo, accompanied by some fresh Gambino's French bread. The gumbo was enjoyable—while not the best I've ever had, I would definitely order it again. The bread was delicious, and with a little garlic butter and a light toasting, it could be truly outstanding. For our main course, we shared the Seafood Platter, which included French fries, Jack's Cajun slaw, catfish, shrimp, oysters, hushpuppies, and onion rings. Everything was perfectly fried and wonderfully seasoned. We finished off our meal with an order of beignets, which were good but not exceptional. Next time (and there will be a next time), I think we'll opt for the bread pudding instead. The service was exceptional, truly elevating the experience and more than compensating for the parts of the meal that were just good. Overall, the 30-minute drive from home was well worth it. I just wish they would open a location in Trussville or West Homewood so I could hear the bartender call my name as I walk through the door!
I have to be honest—I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone I care about. Everything was overcooked. My hush puppy was basically a deep-fried golf ball. I definitely won't be returning.
I had one of the blandest experiences with 'Cajun' food I've ever encountered, and the prices were absurdly high. Don't mix this place up with Crazy Cajun in Inverness, as they offer a totally different experience.
I visited this restaurant based on a recommendation, and I was delighted by the experience. The food was fresh and delicious. The seafood gumbo was packed with seafood in every bite, and the po-boy had soft, airy French bread with freshly fried shrimp. Sarah, our server, was excellent—she gave wonderful suggestions for my first visit and managed the front of house all by herself during lunch. I was really impressed and will definitely return.
I’ve never encountered fries so overwhelmingly salty with seasoning before. However, the fish and red beans and rice were excellent. The saltiness was just off the charts.
