Was Alexa Sanchez at Bird-in-hand Bakery Cafe a mag?
What a fantastic place! I went in search of my favorite pecan sticky buns, only to discover they were no longer available. Fortunately, the wonderful Lady Joann introduced me to walnut sticky buns, and they were absolutely delicious! YUM! View all feedback.
What Barry Cohen dislikes about Bird-in-hand Bakery Cafe:
Breakfast sandwich was far from special. All eggs are steamed, so, no overeasy, no scrambled, etc.Atmosphere is kind of Disney, not at all authentic.Over all a bit disappointed. No reason to come again... View all feedback.

This is a fantastic little bakery hidden in the heart of Amish country! I tried the cheese Danish and the Farmer's Breakfast sandwich, and both were incredible in taste and quality!

While I’m sure there are many wonderful things about this establishment, my review is based on some baked goods I purchased. Given the positive reviews, I was expecting delightful, homemade country treats, perhaps crafted with care by someone's grandmother. This may have been an unrealistic expectation, but being in Amish country, I was on the lookout for high-quality bread products. I didn’t even think to check the labels until I returned to my hotel room and tried a dinner roll. As I read the ingredients list, it became clear to me that these buns were straight from some factory. I couldn’t have been more disappointed. To make matters worse, I also bought a loaf of cinnamon bread, which had an equally lengthy ingredients list. In my experience, homemade bread typically requires only five ingredients or less. I find it quite misleading to present heavily processed, factory-made baked goods in a bakery and advertise them as artisan creations.
This is not at all the best example of Amish baked goods. Everything here seems old. The whoopie pies are so dry and stale. Everything else I've gotten there is also disappointing. I remember a long time ago when they didn't have the fancy building on Old Philadelphia Pike and just sold in the Bird and Hand market and they were good.
The shoofly pie had very little filling, the sticky buns were dry and not sticky at all, and the cookies lacked flavor. The ice cream was good, but they didn't provide lids for leftovers. The staff didn't smile or greet customers. While the bakery itself was interesting to explore, I was quite disappointed with the quality of the baked goods.

Can't wait to go again. Mmmmmm good. Food was great.
We ordered our wedding cake, as well as apple pies, pumpkin pies, shoo-fly pies, and all four flavors of whoopie pies from Bird in Hand. When my fiancé (now husband) visited to sample everything, we instantly knew we had to have them as our dessert provider. Every item was fantastic. Although we’re not particularly fond of cake, we were so impressed by the samples that we decided to order a larger cake. We can’t wait to go back for more of their delicious treats! I’m thrilled we discovered them because everything was a hit at the wedding. Guests raved about the desserts! The staff at the bakery were incredibly helpful, advising me on what to order and how much of each item to get. Everything arrived on time, looked gorgeous, and tasted amazing. I would highly recommend them for wedding cakes and desserts!

Delicious! The wet bottom shoofly pie and whoopie pies make the trip absolutely worthwhile!
I live in Oregon and this is my favorite place to stop for donuts (when I am in the area or beg family to bring some back home with them). They have the best cream filled donuts! Wish I could find a bakery out here that comes close.
