Our most disappointing meal in Bilbao. It is hard to understand how this restaurant has a Michelin star. We had the tasting menu at lunch on 4 July 2025. The red tuna had so much fascia that it was tough. The Egg on truffled potatoes was pretty bland. The lobster was sparse and overcooked. The chef 's Spoon was so salty it was inedible. Our favorite course was the cheesecake. The service was not attentive and the bread service mediocre.
Nice restaurant, attached to the hotel. The food was nice, I ordered an oxtail for 26 euros. Vegetarian options are very few (like 1 or 2). Bread is offered tasty one, but it will be included in your bill (the same for water)
Bottom line: a pretty disappointing experience both in terms of food and service, especially for the price asked. Food: (1) Spider crab salad decent, best dish but nothing special (2) Biskain style cod fish over the point, sauce interesting, no sides (3) cheese cake cake was decent but not really better than in any other location I tried, ice cream was truly bad, crystalline, almost no flavor Service: we did not feel welcome from the beginning through the end. Very poor english. Chef went to almost all other tables but not to ours. Complaints were not handled like you expect in a Michelin mentioned place. Clearly under average. Ambiente: OK
Pleasant ambiance and mostly nice food although our order was confused and we ended up getting two crab salads instead of one order of asparagus. We thought the small crab salads were an amuse bouche and just figured the asparagus were forgotten. But when we got the tab, the crab salads were listed but not the asparagus. Ironically, the crab salads were among the most expensive part of the meal which was otherwise well priced, including the wine. Overall, a nice experience and a good value for the cost.
